-Meeting Gabe Helmy-
Shivering slightly I grabbed the ends of my cardigan and moved to wrap it around me tighter. When it came to clothes like this had a habit of buying it a few sizes bigger, but right now it wasn't helping much. Because of how light the falls breeze currently was, the wind seemed to creep itself into the sleeves of my cardigan and wrap itself around my arms. A pout couldnt help but find its way to my lips as I wondered how I got myself here. My friend that expertly convinced me to come was now perched on some dudes lap as she historically laughed at something I am sure was not that funny. I rolled my eyes and shifted on the hard log they called a seat. Broken and empty beer bottles littered the dirt covered ground. The drunken and high off their ass people not caring as it crunched under their feet. Lazily I took a swig from the half full beer bottle in my hand, deciding to lift my gaze from the ground.
It hadnt been seconds later that it felt like my heart stopped in my throat as I caught eyes with someone across the fire. The fire that stood a good five feet tall in its orange and golden glory, effortlessly looking beautiful. But not as effortlessly beautiful as the one whose gaze I couldn't pull away from. Even from so far away I could tell he had soft and light eyes that were shielded by long beautiful lashes. I could feel my cheeks flame as I realized just how much attention I had been paying to the detail in the stranger's face. Widening my eyes I tore my eyes from his and looked down at my worn in leather boots. Taking a swig I was reminded just how much I hated the taste of beer, but so desperately wanted to feel comfortable at this bonfire so I kept drinking...slowly.
Oh well. I sighed kicked a pebble into the fire, getting a soft crackle in response.
Well, what did that rock do to you?
I nearly jumped out of my skin as my bottle hit the floor, I looked down at its spilled dirt covered remains and cursed under my breath.
Shit sorry.
The voice behind me had now moved in front of me. Its owner's hair dark short and messy, parts of it curling as he crouched down for my bottle.
I..its fine. I reached for his shoulder and he stiffened under my hand. Just as quickly as I touched him I removed my hand and gathered both of them in my lap.
Its fine, dont worry about it. I mumbled trying to avoid eye contact as I felt him look up at me. Green...his eyes were green..and light brown..maybe both. I felt my cheeks flame again as I couldnt help but catch his gaze long enough to know the color. I soon felt him slide next to me on the hard log. I watched as his long legs stretched out to get comfortable. A scent of spice and fruit filled my nose soon after and I couldnt help but giggle. Such an odd combination...but somehow it worked for him and I...liked it.
Did..I do something funny. His voice laced in confusion.
Being brave I decided to meet his eyes, tearing my gaze from my twiddling hands I met his. His brows were furrowed as he slightly looked down at me. It was obvious he was tall because of his legs, but sitting he wasnt much taller than me. I felt a smile tug at my lips because of his silly look.
Hi. I whispered.
H..hi. Now was his time to stutter as he whispered back, his gaze intense though we had just met.
My names Y/N. Maybe it was the alcohol but the goofy smile I got couldn't help but surface.
Gabe. His smile was slightly crooked.
I pulled my bottom lip into my mouth admiring just how attractive Gabe was. The black sweater he wore did him so much justice as it hugged his lanky body and long arms. It was obvious he was cold due to the sweater paws he made by pulling the sleeves down over his hands. I started to feel a little self conscious as I admired his features...the way he portrayed himself by the way he sat. You could tell he was self confident despite the slightly nerdy voice he had.
Wanna dance? His voice broke my thoughts and my eyes traveled back up to his, my smile returning. Nodding I sat my hand in his open palm, his hands warm despite the crisp breeze. The light squeeze he gave my hand doing something to my stomach as I followed him into the crowd.
"Maybe coming here wasn't so bad."
"What was that?" He asked as he turned around placing his hands on my hips.
"Nothing." I smiled, placing my hands on his shoulders.
Pulling me close he whispered into my ear completely catching me off guard.
"Ditto." his breath fanned my ear.
I felt my face heat at the thought of him knowing what I said.
