Part 27- Only A Dream.
Song for this chapter: Love Somebody- Maroon 5.
Elsie's POV:
"Els, Elsie, baby, wake up. Elsie?" I felt my shoulder being shaken and I opened my eyes to meet a pair I blue ones.
"Michael." I choked out, climbing out of the bunk I was in and into his arms.
"Michael, they were going to hurt me. You weren't there, and- and I- Michael." I sobbed, losing control and feeling tears fall down my face. The events of my dream replaying in my head.
"Shh, Elsie, I'm here, I'm right here, sweetheart. I'll keep you safe. It's alright. You're alright." My breathing was choppy and I could feel the cold sweat on my back. Michael continued whispering sweet nothings in my ear and rubbed my back, coaxing me back from my dream.
I looked around, noticing my surroundings. We were in a bus. Michael must have carried me in here from the hotel.
"Elsie, baby, I'll never let anyone hurt you. Ever. You're mine, and I'm yours. You'll be okay when your with me, I promise. Nothing will ever hurt you."
As my breathing finally returned to normal, I pulled back, wiping the tears from my eyes.
"You were calling my name and crying. Baby, what happened?" He asked me, pulling me into the bunk and following me in.
"I, well, I had a dream, well really a nightmare, that I was alone in an alley, and there were these guys and," I couldn't finish my sentence, unable to speak about what was going to happen.
"And I called your name but I don't think you were there."
I looked over at Michael, his hands clenched in fists, gripping the edge of the bunk tightly, making the veins in his forearm prominent.
He stood up slowly, turning to look at me.
"You know I'll always save you, right?" He asked me, his voice cracking towards the end.
"I know, Mikey. It was only a dream." I said, scooting towards the edge of the bunk and pulling him towards me. I hugged him tightly.
"I love you so much, Els."
"I know you do. Now come on, let's go talk to the boys." I said, climbing down and taking his hand.
"Hey! Sleeping Beauty is up." Ashton cheered as Michael opened the door of the bunks. I smiled and sat down on the couch with Michael beside me, and Calum on the other side.
"Mario cart?" He asked without looking away from the screen.
"Always." I laughed, taking the Xbox controller Luke was handing to me.
I looked over to see who else was playing. Louis had a controller in his hand, and so did Ashton.
Louis smirked at me, throwing a fist in the air.
"Here we go!"

After our Mario cart games, I went back into the bunks to read one of the books I was trying to finish. I opened it up, my bookmark falling out. Not really a bookmark, it was actually a piece of paper with a few lyrics I had scribbled down on it.
"Hey, Elsie." I looked towards the door where the voice came from.
Ashton.
"Hey, Ash." I said, smiling at him.
"What're you reading?" He asked, lying down next to me.
"Divergent."
"What's it about?" He asked, running his long fingers through his hair, pulling it up.
"I'm not sure. Lily lent it to me." I said.
"Speaking of which, Luke has been texting her quite frequently, lately." He said.
"Really!? She didn't even tell me." I was excited for the two.
"Yeah, seems like everybody's got someone but me." He sighed, looking down.
"Calum does?" I asked curiously.
"This girl back home he's had a crush on for a while. She's been calling him a lot."
"Well Ash, you'll find somebody, trust me. Someone who will make your heart flutter, and your hands shake. And when you look into their eyes, you'll know they mean a lot more than the rest." I caught myself thinking of Michael as the words came out of my mouth.
"I thought someone else was that to me." He mumbled under his breath.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Ash, you know you can talk to me. Lily says I'm a great listener."
"I can't- I mean, I would, but I can't." He says, pulling the ends of his hair.
"It's okay." I took his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
"How about some ice cream? That always makes me feel better." I said.
"Yeah, okay." We stood up out of the bunk and I followed him towards where the mini fridge was in the bus.
"Here." I grabbed two spoons and he grabbed the carton.
We sat on the bench of the table on the same side. I crossed my legs like a pretzel and pulled them up, and Ashton stuck his spoon in the ice cream.
"So, how did your parents feel about this?" He gestured his arm around it as we both ate.
"My mom was irate, but my dad stood up for me. I think he really likes Michael. My mom on the other hand," I laughed, trailing off.
"I'm sure she'll come around." He said.
"She's a softy, you just have to look past all the mean looks and rude comments." I said, laughing along with Ashton.
"Hey, Els?" I looked up at him, waiting for his question.
"What do you think a person should do if they're in love with someone who is someone else's?" He asked, looking straight into my eyes.
"I think that if they aren't right for each other, said person should go after said loved one. And if not, then maybe there's another way to show the love for the person."
"I was afraid you'd say that."

"Oh my god. This isn't happening. This isn't real. Holy crap. Michael!" I stared at my phone, unable to breathe as tears formed in my eyes.
"What!? What's wrong!?" He asked, running in.
"They found him! They found my brother! They found Jason!"
