Oh my god! Finally. That took a freaking half hour! I open my gmail and massage my temples just as my phone starts to blare 'All Night' by Matoma + The Vamps. I feel a migraine working it's way in my head. Some people literally have nothing better to do than bother me. I still answer my phone, nonetheless.

"Hello," I answer without checking the Caller ID. I should start doing that.

"Adrianna!" And my eyes widen at that voice.

"Adrian!"

"You had no idea it was me, did you?" Disbelief lacing his voice. Leave it to Adrian to be the overdramatic queen.

"Should I lie or tell the truth," I reply, half-smiling.

"You're unbelievable." And I could actually imagine him shaking his head at me.

"I'm so sorry, Jesus," I said in fake sincereness.

"Screw you," he deadpanned back.

"Oh thanks."

"Anytime. What are you up to?"

I sigh, "I just finished setting up my schedule for school. Oh, did I mention, classes begin in fifteen freaking days! Fifteen Adrian!"

"And I can help how?" Asshole.

"You pendejo." I retort in a flat tone. And then I hear the front door open. Ooh, dad's home.

"Adrianna!" And I was right.

"Adrian, I got to go. Dad's home. I'll talk to you later. Love you!"

"Bye, I love you too Adrianna," he replied softly, his voice sincere.

And with that, I headed downstairs.

•••

"Dad!" I yelled and ran down the spiral staircase to hug him. I love my dad, fight me.

"Hey sweetheart, how was your day?"

"Would you approve if I said it was just as unproductive as yesterday?" I asked in a teasing nervous tone. Dad, on the other hand, attempted to give me a flat, disapproving look, but failed miserably and laughed it off.

After a while, we both calmed down and the atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful. Like it always is with dad. He took off his suit jacket and tried to take off his tie, but once again, failed miserably. Me, being me, I went up to him and helped. That had always been a thing between us, like a father-daughter thing.

"Oh! I bought donuts and peach cobbler on the way home," he practically praised, sending me a victorious look. I'm sure my face lit up at the mention of donuts and I went rummaging in boxes to find two plates.

And once I did, dad and I spent the afternoon talking, eating donuts, and drinking peach cobbler.
