What is #FreeTheBoy?

INSPIRED BY THE CAMPAIGN, #FreeYourBody, this movement revolves around similar issues. #FreeTheBoy is a movement created by Jay (est. May 19 2016) to promote the wellbeing of our male characters. In multiple campaigns, it is common that the supporters focus on the female characters whilst the boys remain unspoken for. It is seen by society that boys are immune to problems such as body shaming, depression, abuse, rape, bullying, and so on. But with your help and support, we can change that.

The purpose of this movement is to promote body positivity among boys and to promote awareness about boys who struggle with their body image. To shine a light on the boys with problems such as depression and anxiety. To tell boys that it is okay for them to cry. To help them believe that just because they were born a boy, doesn't mean they are invincible, and that they don't have to be the boy society tells them they need to be.

How do I show my support for #FreeTheBoy?

IF YOU SUPPORT THIS campaign, add the hashtag #FreeTheBoy to your bio. And if you wish to do something more, you can write a story about a male character that falls under the criteria of this campaign, and add the hashtag #FreeTheBoy to your tags and the sticker to your cover. The sticker can be found in our profile description. If you already have a story falling under the FreeTheBoy campaign, you can add the tag and sticker if you wish!

What are some examples of issues we can write about?

#FREETHEBOY REVOLVES AROUND MULTIPLE different issues, but focuses solely on male characters. Some examples here are:

- Body Positivity. Eg. Skin colour, anorexia, obesity, conditions, disorders, etc.
- Mental Disorders. Eg. Depression, anxiety, insomnia, schizophrenia, etc.
- Abuse. Eg. Sexual, physical, mental and verbal.

These are only examples. If you want to suggest any more ideas that could link to this campaign, you can PM us or post on our page to discuss its relativity.

A message

THIS MOVEMENT IS HERE for the boys who aren't good looking, who aren't athletic or intelligent. For the boys who blend into the background and aren't particularly talented in anything. For the boys who are abused, raped, bullied. For the boys who cry, cut and are suicidal. For the boys who have depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders. For the boys who struggle with their body and the advertising of male models in the media.

This is for the boys. Everyone, single, beautiful one of you. Because it's not just the girls who suffer.

Be inspired, and write. And just have fun.
