Part 7 ~ Pictures of You

Start from the beginning

"You sure you're okay? You don't sound it."

"Yeah, I'm good; just been thinking about Emily a lot today." I say and he goes quiet. "You still there?"

"Yeah, I was just trying to think of what to say."

"It's okay Chris, you don't have to say anything. I know you mean well."

"I'm glad you do." He says and I can sense the melancholy in his voice.

"So dinner? When?" I ask making him chuckle slightly.

"Nice change of subject there."

"It's what I do." I say as I reach into the nightstand drawer and pull out the photo I had secretly stashed there. I smile as I hold it up to the light.

"You working tomorrow?" He asks and I smile.

"No, I got tomorrow off. They're shooting Sebastian's scenes tomorrow so I should be free."

"Cool I'll pick you up tomorrow night at seven, that work for you?" He asks and I nod.

"Sure, how fancy we talking?"

"Just normal clothes works, I've got a little something special planned."

"Oh, do you now?" I ask as I place the photo to my chest.

"Yeah, I think you'll like it." He says making my heart rise in my chest.

"I hope so." I hear a loud knocking on the side of my trailer and it brings me out of my thoughts. "Oh they're calling me."

"Okay, text me later?"

"Will do."

"Alright, I'll talk to you later then."

"Okie Dokie." I reply making him laugh.

"Bye (Name),"

"See ya," I hang up the phone and taking a deep breath I pick the picture up and try not to cry as I look at it. "Is it okay if I try now Em?" I ask as I look at her smiling face as she stands next to me while Chris stands on my other side his arms wrapped around me a bright smile on both our faces. It was the only picture I had of the three of us together and when I had a day like today, it was nice to have it to look at and remember the good old days.

"You coming?" I hear Sebastian ask through the closed door and I clear my thoughts as I yell back. "Yeah."

Chris's POV

"What'd she say?" Scarlett asks when he walks through her trailer door.

"Hello to you too." He replies as he closes the door and walks over to sit across from her.

"I'm serious Evans, what'd she say?"

"She said yes." He replies a bright smile covering his face.

"Well done Chris, you've only been trying to how long now?"

"I know," Chris replies as he turns the phone over and over in his hands.

"You okay?" She asks and he sighs.

"Yeah, just a little-"

"Worried she might run again?" Scarlett finishes his thought and he nods. After the premiere Chris, had sat down with Scarlett and told her everything about (Name) and his past. There were still things (Name) had left out when they talked last and somehow he would find out the truth about what all had happened all those years ago and why she kept it from him.

"Yeah," He says as he glances out the window at the crew running around trying to prep for the next scene.

"Look, you've got this chance to talk to her and straighten things out. You need to take things slow."

"I know, I just can't fight the feeling nagging me in the back of the head."

"And you think she's not?" Scarlett says causing him to look up at her with knowing eyes.

"I know she is. I know her better than anyone, well second to Emily anyway."

"And that's why you have to be cautious. You push too hard and she'll run again, and this time you may never see her again."

"Thanks for taking it easy on me." Chris jokes and Scarlett smiles.

"That's not my style Evans and you know it." She says as she pats him on the shoulder. Chris smiles back at her as he lets out a sigh of relief.

"What would I do without you?"

"Let's hope you never have to find out." She replies as someone knocks on her trailer door. "Coming!" She replies as she gives his back one last pat before she walks out of the trailer. Chris lets out a heavy sigh as he leans back into the seat trying to get comfortable. Pulling his phone up he starts to go through all the old photos he decided to place on it. Most of them were of (Name) doing random things, but there were a couple of the two of them together. His favorite one was one that Emily had taken of the two of them sleeping together all wrapped up in each other's arms.

It wasn't too long after that picture was taken that Emily had died. (Name) and Emily had been like sisters and when Emily had passed it broke something inside (Name). No matter how many times he had told her that Emily's death wasn't her fault she hadn't listened. That moment when he went to Emily's old apartment and saw (Name) with Jack. Granted they weren't doing anything but the fact that (Name) let him think all these years that they had, really irked him.

Chris sighs as he scratches the back of his head. Take it slow, Chris. Don't scare her away. Taking a deep breath, he pulls up his cell phone and dialing a familiar number says, "Hey what's up, I need you to do me a favor."
