"What are you doing here?" She whispered in my ear.
"I'll tell you later!" I exclaimed giggling softly.
The class went on as boring as it has been so far; we made groups to discuss the assigned book, we discussed it with the rest of the class, and we debated a little. Katherine left earlier, so I couldn't tell her anything after class, and since I didn't have anything else to do, I walked out and left the classroom. Josh was discussing something with one of our classmates so I just waved at him smiling.
"Hey, Ava!" Josh called me out rushing behind me, so I looked back and stopped to wait for him, "uh... Can I call you Ava?" He asked once he reached me.
"Sure, you can!" I exclaimed smiling, and when he didn't continue talking, I said, "so... Was that all?"
"No, no! I-I was wondering if you were heading home," he said sounding nervous.
"Yeah, I am! Are you?" I asked.
"No, I have one more class, but I was thinking I could accompany you to the bus stop since I have an hour free," he said putting his hands in his pockets.
"I would like that," I said smiling so widely that my eyes were almost completely closed.
Josh walked with me all the way to the bus stop, and surprisingly, we didn't talk much on our way there. It didn't take us more than ten minutes to get to my bus stop, and when we arrived, he stood next to me looking at the ground.
"Are you staying until the bus arrives?" I asked wondering why he was so quiet.
"Oh, yes I was... I-"
"Good!" I exclaimed interrupting him. I was so embarrassed since he was clearly going to say something else, and I just cut him off. "What were you going to say?" I asked giggling nervously.
"Oh, it's so silly. It's okay-"
"No, please say it."
"I was just-uh thinking that we, I mean... I could keep doing this, and on Monday's since we have our last class together... It's really silly-"
"No, no it's not. It's a good idea, your bus stop is close from mine... I actually wonder how we haven't done it already," I smiled and he smiled back.
"It's really nice talking to you, and hanging out with you," it seemed like he didn't mean to say that out loud since he blushed and looked away for a second.
"I like it too!" I rushed to say so he wouldn't feel uncomfortable.
He smiled and said, "we can even come earlier and have a coffee before class too," he joked.
"Yes we can!" I exclaimed giggling.
***
Walking together to our bus stops became a routine; we would walk together and talk, sometimes we grabbed a coffee and he waited for my bus to arrive, and he waved goodbye standing there until he couldn't see me. Our conversations were deeper every passing day, and I really started to know who he was, and I liked him even more every time. I didn't know if he was interested in me, but as things were going it seemed he just wanted to be my friend.
