~ part 9 ~of story

" thanks for backing me up." Avalon says next to me.

" it's alright. I kinda of hated Mr Albert for a long time." i admit, truthfully.

Avalon goes quiet all of sudden. I look to see where she's looking. Carissa is glaring at us. Now I know why Avalon is scared. Of carissa.

" just ignore her and she'll go." i say to Avalon, who is looking down. I mean carissa can be intimidating sometimes, even I have to admit.

When Carissa leaves, Avalon puts her head up.
" that girl is really scary."
" I know." I say eating an apple.

She smiles, broadly.what she up to?
" so wanna go to the park?"

But we are in school. I'm not going to leave school with a random stranger.
" I'm sorry. I can't."

Her smile drops. " please. I'm the new girl remember?"

And that makes...

She does the puppy dog face. " pretty please!"

I sigh and put the apple in the bin, whilst I grab my jacket from the seat next to me.

" fine." I say, stopping as I put my finger up. " only in one condition."
" yeah?"

" we come back 10 minutes early."

She looks away thinking, then jumps up and down.
" thank you."

Whilst we walk in the park, theirs one question that was annoying me.
" why did you want to hang out with me?"

She shrugs.
" I don't know. You seem different to the others. You seem like a person I will get."

Oh.

" by different you mean loner." I correct.

She laughs.
" oh com'on your not a loner. I bet you have a lot of friends."

I did.

I feel uncomfortable now. Avalon sees and tries to change the subject.
" maybe we should go to the cafe! I love the croissants!"

I nod as she grabs my arm and takes me to the cafe.

And know Avalon knows I have no friend now. Like the whole school knows. Maybe it should stay that way. I don't want Avalon to turn like me. To be part of the loner group.
