I'm Not Afraid of the Dark (Yuto x Reader)

Chapter 8

The only recognition you get from the man is a slight tightening in the mouth.

"It's me! Don't you remember? The one who came to get you when Yuto was hurt."

"You're that girl?"

"Yes! I am telling the truth. I just got lost, but I won't complain. If it's a duel you want, it's a duel you'll get!"

"Then I draw!" Shun takes the first move, and summons three raid raptors straight up. He then overlays them to XYZ summon his raid raptor rise falcon. He ends his turn with a face down.

You grin. This would be fun. Finally, someone with enough skill and surprises to actually challenge you.

You start your turn by summoning out a monster in defense mode and placing two cards facedown. It would look like you were playing it safe, when really, you were just letting him get his hopes up while you wait to draw the perfect card. Then it would be all over.

"Your turn!"

Shun draws, and places another card face down.

"Now, raid raptor rise falcon, attack this girl's monster!"

"Hold on, your rise falcon only has 100 attack points." Shun smirks.

"Not for long. I now play one of my face downs to increase my falcons attack points!" [Sorry, I suck at the battles, and am too lazy to look up all the names of cards in his deck, so it will just be anonymous.😊]

Your monster is destroyed, but thankfully it was in defense mode, so you don't take any damage.

"Alright, now it's my move!"

As you draw, you pause at the sharp intake of breath. It wasn't loud, but it definitely wasn't you or Shun. That could only mean you had company. You take the time to scan the shadows for any figures.

"Make your move." Shun's voice is impatient.

"Wait." You draw your gaze from the darkness to meet his eyes. "We're not alone."

Shun's body tenses. He seems to be annoyed at himself for not noticing anything sooner, and letting you get the advantage. Still, when his search turns out fruitless, his icy look could kill.

"There is no one there, girl. Now continue."

You scowl at his tone, but obey. "Fine then."

You summon another one of your monsters in defense mode, and place another face down. Gosh, this was getting boring. If only you could get a good draw, just one!

Shun takes his turn, and places a face down before handing it back over. It seems luck wasn't on his side either. Good.

You draw. Finally!

It was polymerization. You didn't want a repeat of reaction at You Show, so you banished all thoughts of the Fusion dimension and your mum from your mind. You needed this card to win.

For the first time in what felt like forever, you let a small smile grace your lips.

"This duel is over! I now use the spell card polymerization to fuse my (monster 1) and (monster 2)!"

Shun's eyes widen, and you swear you hear him curse.

"I fusion summon! (Ultimate amazing OP monster)!"

"SHUN!" A figure jumps down from the rafters of the building and places himself between you and Shun. His face is in shadow, and he wears goggles and a mouth guard to mask his face even further, but he is still familiar. When someone never leaves your mind, you find yourself noticing every detail, and it is soon easy to recognize them anywhere.
