You spent a lot of the remainder of the day with Yuto, learning to XYZ summon, and to put it simply... flirting.
Shun did return at one point, only to see the two of you, apologise profusely and then hastily back out again. You and Yuto only laughed at his antics.
If someone had told you that the day would have worked out as well as it had that morning, you would have simply scoffed and walked off, but as the evening arrives and you know you must get back home, you find yourself sad to leave your raven-and-eggplant-haired senpai... oh, and boyfriend too.
Still, your mother will start to get worried soon, and so you say goodbye with a quick kiss, blushing all the while, and stroll out the door. All the way home you can't stop smiling.
When your mother sees your expression as you waltz through the door, she just smirks knowingly and lets you continue up to your room. After a little while, she brings dinner, and advises you to get to bed early in preparation for tomorrow.
With all the excitement of the day, you had almost forgotten that the Arc League Championships started tomorrow. You take a bite of the (favourite dinner), and get your deck out of the deck holder at your hip. You had to admit, you were nervous. Even though duelling was your dream, it was still the biggest public competition you had ever competed in. Who knew what types of opponents you would face?
You quickly check through your cards, making sure everything was in order. You find yourself hesitating over (ace monster). It may be a fusion monster, but it was one that you could rely on. [Ack! Cringe.] You knew that you could do it. You could get to the finals at the very least.
Carefully placing everything back the way it was before, you finish your dinner and prepare for bed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.
*time skip to the next morning*
You awake to your mother opening your door, breakfast in hand. [why does this mother always bring you the food ready to eat, and you aren't asked to do anything? Jealous... although the poor mum!]
"Rise and shine (y/n)! You've got a big day ahead of you. Now, if you get nervous or ever feel hungry I will be right there in the stands."
You are still too busy waking yourself up to answer, but she takes this hesitation as nerves.
"Sweetheart, it's okay to feel nervous! Perfectly natural! I mean, there will be thousands of people watching, the whole city infact-"
"Mum, stop! I'm fine."
You shake your head slightly in disbelief. She was the nervous one. That was evident by how over the top she was acting.
"Really, Mum, it'll be okay. I'm pumped!"
You can't help but clench your fists in anticipation and shoot her a smile.
Glancing at the clock, you notice it's 8:45am. You quietly curse. You had agreed to meet everyone at the stadium at 9am.
Thanking your mother, you take the food from her and scoff it down, before quickly pushing her out of your room so that you can change. You hastily get dressed into one of your favourite outfits, and put on the necklace your dad had given you for good luck. [If you guys don't remember from Chapter 2, its silver/gold/leather with your birthstone in the centre of the pendant in the shape of a heart.]
Checking your appearance once in the mirror, you grab your deck and duel disk and rush out the door, running all the way to the stadium.
When you arrive, you find Yuzu, Sora, and the kids in the foyer in a rather frantic mood.
"Hey guys, what's wrong?"
Yuzu's expression brightens up slightly at the sight of you, but it does nothing to calm the worry in her eyes.
"It's Yuya. We can't find him anywhere!"
You frown. It wasn't like him to back out of things. Especially where duelling was concerned.
Just as you are about to volunteer searching for him, a short girl with long, curly, red hair interrupts.
"If my boyfriend is lost, then I'm the one to find him."
"Aura?!" You give Yuzu a questioning look as to how she knows the girl. She just ignores you, and you can't help but huff.
There is only one word that stops you from this little brat away and telling her to mind her own business. [sorry if you guys like Aura. She is fine, but her voice in the Dub is annoying, and her obsession with Yuya equally so.]
"What do you mean 'boyfriend'?"
You notice Yuzu's eyes narrow slightly at your question. It takes real effort to hide your grin. She is so jealous.
Aura continues to ramble on about Yuya and something to do with a date. While Yuzu's increasingly violent reaction is amusing, Aura's obsession with your tomato-haired friend is not, and it is terribly tempting to slap her.
Still, when she pulls out a crystal apple and claim to have a means of finding the boy in question, you can't help but be the slightest bit intrigued.
"You're a psychic?"
She gives you a rather arrogant look.
"One of the best."
You just roll your eyes and motion for her to continue with what she was doing.
She mutters to herself as she works, and at the words 'darling sweetie-pie', 'heart', and 'honey-dearest', you swear that soon your breakfast will be making a second appearance.
Though her 'love' for Yuya sickens you, her methods work, and she points out the location of Yuya.
You sigh. There was nothing to worry about. He probably just wanted some alone time.
But when time passes and he still hasn't shown up, you begin to get worried.
"C'mon Yuya, the Championships are going to start soon."
Yuzu bows her head in concern.
"Oh great! I finally found you!"
The voice comes from nearby, and you glance around, only to see Yuya running towards you. You only frown more. Yuya runs up to Yuzu with a grin.
"Did you miss me?" The question is aimed at the whole group, but it still brings you some joy to see that Yuzu was the one he went to.
The pink-haired girl just scowls.
"Did we miss you?! We drove ourselves crazy all morning trying to track you down!"
Yuya's smile doesn't waver.
"Well now you can call off the search!" He winks at her, and you silently cheer them on. "We'd better get moving. Don't want to be late!" With that he runs off again, leaving a rather unimpressed Yuzu in his wake.
Gong says a quick hello to your group just before the call for the start of the opening ceremonies, and you all take your places.
When the call for You Show arrives, you swallow your nerves and walk into the light of the arena.
[A/N]
Sorry about the time between updates, and how short this chapter is. I have been busy with school because we are in the middle of assessments.
Still, I hope this chapter wasn't too dull, and please vote and comment if you are enjoying this book so far.
