You opened your eyes groggily, and took immediate notice of the weird object connected to your mouth. You looked down, realizing it was an air mask, and took it off. Looking around you, you noticed scraps of metal, and most of all, sand. You had absolutely no idea where you were. Were you in America?
No. America was more... rocky. Around you were palm trees, along with a lot of foliage. It was definitely a stereotypical island. You were pretty sure if this was a stereotypical island, then there was a volcano not too far off.
Getting up woozily, you placed a hand on your head to calm the raging storm that had washed over you. You took a step forward and winced. God, it was hot. You removed your shoes and socks before placing them neatly down onto the hot sand. Your feet met with the tiny sediments, and your first instinct was to curl your toes into them. You relished the feeling of exhilaration of gave you. You had only been to the beach twice when you were younger. Your parents had taken you to the Dead Sea. You were a pretty sucky swimmer when you were younger. You remembered screaming as your parents tried to gently put you underwater. You were constantly getting water in your nose; plus, you were beyond terrified of sharks, but even more of jellyfish. The little parasites full of electricity waiting to zap you and kill you freaked you out. Ah, you and your parents had the best times.
Your parents. How could you have forgotten them?! Panic overtook you, and you began to jog. That jog turned into a sprint. Before you knew it, you were sailing throughout the forest, your waist-length hair flowing in a wild, untamed, flurry behind you. The trees rushed past, and came to an end where you stopped. The sand that you were currently stepping on trailed off into a large body of water. The sea. Or the ocean. You weren't sure which, but frankly, you didn't care.
There was several pools of water along the seaside, and two boys were alongside it: one chubby but cute, and the other a gorgeous blonde. You felt your cheeks heat up as you watched the guy pull his shirt off, and then his pants and underwear. He then proceeded to jump into the water with a loud yell.
Completely red-faced, you gulped and approached the two boys. The chubby one was sitting on a ledge, watching his companion push himself through the water. "You can't half swim."
They didn't even notice you approach them.
"Piggy."
You watched with slight interest as 'Piggy' removed his footwear and tested the water with his big toe. "It's hot!"
"What did you expect?"
"I didn't expect nothing. My auntie-"
"Sucks to your auntie!"
Rude as it was, the comment made a laugh escape your pink lips, and making both boys look back at you.
"Hi," you waved shyly, smiling a bit. The two boys took notice of their current unclothed state, and immediately started to hide themselves and find their clothes. You flew into a panic after them.
"Oh, n-no, it's fine, really! I'm used to it! Please don't feel uncomfortable!"
Piggy and the blonde turned to look at you with a strange look.
"Really?" Piggy asked.
"Yeah. A lot of the boys I went to the beach with liked to swim naked. I don't judge them. It must feel nice. Especially in this hot weather."
The blonde nodded, settling himself back into the water.
Shaking your head a little, you turned to Piggy, a gentle smile on your face. "So, I'm [Name]. Piggy, right?"
It was Piggy's turn to look away sheepishly. Pink dusted his cheeks as he awaited your jeers. To his surprise, you did nothing of the sort. "That's a nice name."
Your voice held no sarcastic undertone, making Piggy look up suspiciously. Your smile only widened and you reached a hand out for him to shake. Realizing you weren't going to mock him, Piggy took your hand a shook it gently before sniffling. You opened your eyes and began to yell. "Oh my gosh, are you okay? Are you hurt? Was it something I said? Did I hurt your feelings?"
You took Piggy's silence as an answer. "Oh, I did! I'm so sorry! Please forgive me! Don't hate me, please!"
"No!"
You looked at Piggy with a quizzical look, mentally asking him to clarify.
"No, no, just-"
Piggy hugged you all of a sudden, his chin at your ear. "Thank you."
"I, uh-"
You patted Piggy's back awkwardly. "You're welcome."
Piggy pulled away, his face redder than last time.
You turned to look at the blonde, who looked amused, but his eyes held a dangerous glint that resembled anger. You didn't speak, so he did it for you. "Like what you see?"
The boy proceeded to laugh loudly and flop back into the water. Once he was done with his laughing fit, he looked up at you on the ledge. "Name's Ralph."
You nodded. "[Name]."
Ralph mimicked your actions. "What's that?"
"Huh?"
You just now realized that your earbuds were hanging out of your pocket, and your iPod was close to falling out. "Oh! That's my iPod. You uh, play music on it."
Ralph and Piggy had looks of awe painted on their faces. "You're gonna have to show me later."
"Of course!" you laughed.
You sat down beside Piggy, who still seemed a little shy about his naked body. Patting his hand, you reassured him with a smile.
Piggy then stood up and walked off the ledge before going into the water and sitting down so the water was to his neck. His lips curled into a proud smile.
"Aren't you going to swim?"
Piggy shook his head. "I can't swim. I wasn't allowed. My asthma-"
"Sucks to your ass-mar!"
You giggled once more at Ralph's rude comment before slapping a hand over your mouth. "Sorry, Piggy."
"It's alright."
Piggy then directed his gaze to the blonde swimming in front of him. "You can't half swim well."
Ralph backstroked himself down the slope, immersed his mouth, and blew a jet of water into the air. Then he lifted up his chin. "I could swim when I was five. Daddy taught me. He's a commander in the Navy. When he leaves he'll come and rescue us. What's your father?"
Piggy's face turned pink again. "My dad's dead, and my mum-"
The boy took off his glasses and searched for something to clean them with. "I used to live with my auntie. She kept a candy store. I used to get ever so many candies. As many as I liked. When'll your dad rescue us?"
"Soon as he can."
You looked down hopelessly. You knew that you'd have to spend at least two months here. There was no question. The Navy was a serious thing that probably wouldn't waste their time trying to find some boys and a girl when they weren't even sure if they were alive. Sighing, you threw Piggy down his sock so he could clean his glasses with them. He caught them, a bit clumsily to be honest, and started to wipe his glasses.
"How does he know we're here?"
Dammit Piggy. Why'd you have to ask that?
Ralph ignored the chubby boy and kept moving gracefully throughout the warm water.
Piggy asked again. "How does he know we're here?"
"They'd tell him at the airport."
Piggy pressed further, putting on his glasses. "Not them. Didn't you hear what the pilot said? About the atom bomb? They're all dead."
You watched as Ralph stood up, considering the problem. "This is an island, you know."
Piggy grimaced. "They're all dead, an' this is an island. Nobody don't know we're here. Your dad don't know, nobody don't know-"
The chubby boy's lip quivered as he continued his speech. His glasses fogged up, and his voice was shaky.
"We may stay here till we die."
