Mayfair, London. 1777.
The streets were deserted. Only a few birds flew above the dome of a huge church, its figure looming over the façades of stores and houses.
"Where is he, Abdiel?"
"At the church."
"Mass?"
"No. Sunday school."
"Ah."
"Let's go," Abdiel said, gently pulling his blind brother towards the building.
It was just another Sunday morning at St.George's parish in Hanover Square.
At least ten boys and girls, as young as three and as old as ten, were laughing and shouting as they played, waiting for their parents to get back from the Mothering Sunday Mass.
"Children! Come here!"
The voice of the young teacher, Miss Mallow, silenced the little ones and drew their attention. She entered the room holding a medium-sized basket.
