'THAT WAS CRUEL'

While lying in her bed that night there was only one conclusion that Nevaeh could come up with as to why Enoch had been staring at her, her eyes.
"Stupid" she groaned, "I was so stupid to think that I could fit in here when I'm a freak."

She felt tears start to swell up in her eyes and she was not about to let herself down by crying over some boy that she'd just met. she didn't even know why she she felt so down, after all she had been subject to bullying her whole life and she was almost certain that things weren't about to change, not now.

With her eyelids like led, she rolled over and let sleep consume her.

As she opened her eyes, Nevaeh was greeted by a soft light drifting in through her window through the net curtain. As she lay there for a while she finally heard the other residents of the house begin to rise.

With that she got up and dressed herself in a grey dress and went downstairs to breakfast. Surprisingly when she got into the kitchen she found that she was the last to arrive and there was only one spare seat left, beside him.

To say that breakfast was uncomfortable was an understatement. All the while the others were talking and laughing her and Enoch sat in silence, a few times she felt Enoch's gaze on her and it made her feel ashamed.

"Stupid eyes, why can't you just get eaten by a hollow or something." she said in a low, frustrated voice so that nobody would hear.
Once breakfast was over she quickly cleared her plate and rushed out of the room and straight into a brick wall.

"Watch where your going" his thick  accent scowled.

"Sorry Enoch, I didn't see you" she mumbled.

"Whatever" he grumbled and with a dirty look, he was gone.

The one thing that Nevaeh could not understand was why Enoch was so cold to her when everyone else at the house seemed nice enough.

She decided on a safe bet and headed into the garden where the other children were. As soon as she was outside Claire and Millard ran up to her.

"Come and play football
"Can you braid my hair?" The two children squealed in unison.

"Wow, wow calm down." She said smirking.

Claire grabbed her arm and began to pull her away,

"Hey, no fair" cried Millard as he grabbed her other hand.

"You two have about three seconds to let go before I mail you both to the hollow's front door" Nevaeh said with a mock glare and the two children instantly stopped pulling.

"I'm only joking, sorry." She said laughing as she ruffled Claire's hair, noticing the poor girl looked close to tears.

"That was cruel." Millard laughed, poking her in the side.

"I know, sorry again. Claire I'll have a quick game of football with Millard and then I'll plat your hair, alright?"

Almost as soon as the words left her mouth Claire pouted.

"Alright" Nevaeh warned with a stern look.

A exasperated sigh escaped Claire's mouth.

"Alright."

A while later, after losing badly to Millard at football and braiding Claire's hair, Nevaeh made her way inside. She only got half way up the stairs when she was greeted by Emma.

"Oh Nevaeh your just in time for movie night, come on" she said as she half dragged Nevaeh to the parlour where every one else was waiting.

Fiona patted a seat in-between her and Enoch, as you can imagine Nevaeh was just thrilled to sit next to him. So being a good friend to Fiona she sat in the space just as Horace put in his monacle and began the film.

It started off with Horace dressed head to toe in a brown suit and everything was going splendidly until the screen went black and cut to Nevaeh crying with someone by her side. The screen cut to a picture of the cliffs surrounding the island then the screen went black once more. The scene cut to two people leaning in, it was near impossible to tell who they were but the children seemed to think it was her and Enoch as they proceeded to stare at the two. Just as their lips were about to touch Miss Peregrine flicked on the lights.

"Alright children, that's enough for tonight."

Nevaeh could feel the blood rush to her cheeks so to avoid anymore embarrassment she got up and walked out of the room, but not before she looked over her shoulder to see a chorus of eyes following her, but only one pair stood out.
