The view was stunning. Aiden walked past the hikers about to start their trails and headed straight for the lookout. He was standing on the edge of a cliff face, the water lapping against the rocks low beneath his feet. He peered over the edge, only to pull himself back as soon as he looked, the height too much for him. Instead, he allowed his gaze to drift upwards, towards the horizon where he could see the sea meeting the sky. It was a cloudless day. He lifted the heavy camera from around his neck and snapped a few photos before securing it again. Aiden glanced back at the trails he had just walked past. It was empty now, those families and couples from before already on their way through the walking track that led to the trail which ascended up the mountain. He tugged on the heavy backpack around his shoulders and walked towards the trail entrance. Two men suddenly appeared to his right, laughing between themselves. They were handsome, both toned with sun kissed skin and water bottles in their hands. Aiden decided that the ascent up the mountain might be a little easier today than it had the previous times.

Aiden was disappointed when he lost sight of the men soon after they had reached the base of the mountain, after he stopped to take a couple of photos. It took him more time than usual to ascend the steep trail, but he didn't mind. The photos were worth it. By the time he made it to the top he had sweat dripping down his back and he was sure that his dark hair was matted together with the stuff. He reached for it, pushing the hair back from his face. The strands were just too short to be tied back and he considered cutting it all off when he got home, the heat was getting too much for him. He was distracted from his internal monologue of heat complaints when he looked up and saw the view before him. Not only were there a bunch of attractive people stretching and taking selfies right in front of him, but the view behind them was amazing. He circled around himself, taking in the sight of the water on one side and the city in the distance on the other. They were on the flat top of the mountain, rails sitting on the perimeter and display boards randomly situated against them, providing details about the view. Aiden had read the boards more times than he could count. He wiped the sweat off of his face and walked around the perimeter until he could find a reasonably vacant area. He didn't like a lot of noise when he took photos. He liked the quiet. It was one of the only times he appreciated silence, most other times he was more than happy to be overloaded with noise.

He laid his backpack on the ground below him, pulling out his equipment. He set up the tripod, the ocean view in front of him. He lined it up perfectly and took a few shots. He pulled the camera up and started looking at the photos. It was then he noticed the edge of an arm lingering in the corner of the frame. He looked up and just as he expected, there was someone leaning against the rails, looking out at the sea in the distance. Aiden coughed under his breath but the person didn't move. Aiden only then realised that the person was quite stunning. The man's muscular body pulled against his tight white shirt and black compression leggings. He was young, maybe early twenties, with brown hair that almost looked blonde in the harsh light. Aiden was taking photos of him before he even registered what he was doing. He decided that it was revenge for the man getting in his photo in the first place. At first he wondered why the man hadn't heard the sound of his camera but the wind was loud in Aiden's ears and the man looked so deep in thought he probably wasn't paying attention. Aiden took photo after photo, the man somehow looking more mesmerizing by the moment. Aiden stepped to the side and took a photo of the side of his face. He looked sad, almost. Aiden was surprised. Why was he sad? What was his mind contemplating at the top of a mountain?

"Are you taking pictures of me?"

Aiden was shocked out of his daze at the sound of the voice. The man was facing him now. There was a hard expression on his face, that sombre demeanour long gone.

"No?" Aiden laughed. He hoped that humour might defuse the situation. "I was just taking photos of the water. Don't be full of yourself."

"I think you were," the man replied.
