The Date

Enoch's POV

There was a knock on my door. I was thinking it was another annoying kid. Maybe Hugh or Jacob. Probably going to test my patience until I snap and kill them. But it would be nice to have one less person around. So, I opened the door and it wasn't anyone annoying. It was someone special to me. It was Y/N. She wore a light yellow dress and she had her hair in a bun. So simple yet so beautiful. Seeing her felt like as if the whole Earth was gloomy and she was the ray of sunshine who brought color.

"So, you ready?" She asked.

Her voice was sweet and beautiful. I could listen to her read the entire dictionary if she would.

"Of course." I said. "But where are we going?"

"Perhaps a picnic on the beach?" She asked while showing me a picnic basket.

I didn't really like the idea of sitting on the rough ground separated by only a blanket while eating packed lunch. But her smile made me think otherwise.

"That sounds wonderful." I said.

We walked to the beach and laid the picnic blanket down. There, we sat and ate our food. The sound of the waves were calming. And the slight breezes were cooling. But what captivated me was Y/N. But why have I only fallen for her now? Why wasn't it love at first sight? I didn't know and didn't care at the moment. All I knew was that I was madly in love with Y/N.

"So, Enoch. How are you enjoying this date?" She asked while letting out a chuckle. "Well, it's not really a date, but.... You know."

"Well I am quite enjoying it myself. The clear skies, the blue sea, it's very enjoyable." I said.

"And the food?" She asked.

"Oh yes, it's quite delicious." I said.

"And me?" She asked.

"You're delicious too." I said.

"What?" She said a little panicked.

"Calm down, Y/N. I'm joking." I said trying to stop myself from laughing.

"Oh God. Why would you say that?" She said jokingly. "You want to kiss me don't you?"

Yes.

"No." I lied. "Besides it's not a real date."

"Well it wouldn't be a real kiss, then?" She asked.

Did she really want to kiss me? I wanted to kiss her badly, but I didn't want to force it or anything.

"It wouldn't be a real kiss but it would be awkward." I said. "Very awkward."

"Yeah, okay. But the kiss would-"

"Is kissing you part of the dare?" I interrupted. "Because of it is."

I gathered all my confidence and pulled her into a kiss. Her lips were soft and tasted like strawberries. I was so happy and nervous at the moment. Unsure if she has the same feelings or not. She unexpectedly kissed back. But I started to feel weak and dizzy. She pulled away from the kiss quickly. As though if we kissed any longer, I would die. But I really would have died.

"Oh gosh. Enoch are you okay? Did I kill you?!" She said.

She was panicking. I was still alive, just very weak. As if 90% of my life was drained. But it was worth it. That kiss gave and took my life. It probably wasn't real, but I cherished it. I cherished her.

"Enoch, please don't die!" She said.

Her voice was shaking and she was very concerned. I would say something but I couldn't. I was too weak. Almost dead. I heard her sobbing and sobbing. I love seeing people weak and vulnerable. But not her. Not Y/N.

"I wish I never had this peculiarity. This curse." She sobbed.

"No. Don't say that." I said weakly.

I felt my energy coming back slowly.

"Enoch?" Y/N asked while sobbing a little.

"I'm still alive." I said getting up. "Besides, that kiss took only 4 seconds. Not 5."

"Yeah, but imagine if it did last for 5 seconds. You would have died." She said keeping her distance.

"Y/N, don't stay away from me." I said softly. "Your peculiarity is not a curse. It feels like one at first. But you'll see that it's a gift. A beautiful one."

Y/N pulled me into a short but tight hug. I guess her powers only work with skin to skin contact.

"I'm sorry, Enoch. I should have never done this stupid deal." She apologized while wiping tears off.

"I thought it was a dare." I said.

"It wasn't. Hugh, Millard, Emma, and I made a deal to try and embarrass you. We thought it would be awkward and embarrassing if you went on a date." She explained.

"It's alright, Y/N. If it wasn't for this deal, I wouldn't have kissed you." I said.

I could see her blushing.

"And you are very delicious." I said.
