It took a full two weeks of sleepless nights to get all of them back to perfect health.

The family came back over, and we're going out to dinner, and I just feel off.

I hope to get I'm not getting that.

The doctor said it was a sinus infection, but the kids had it for three weeks, and Noah, who has never in the years I've know him been sick, had it for two.

She changed it to the flu after the antibiotics didn't work.

My head feels full or something, and my throat is scratchy.

I don't voice it because I don't want anybody to worry about me.

It's probably nothing.

We're all at dinner now, and I feel the feeling slowly start to increase.

"Are you okay?" Noah asks.

"Yeah." I nod. "I gotta pee though, I'll be right back."

I don't have to pee.

By now, I'm nearly miserable.

I'm decongested and can hardly breateh from my nose, my throat hurts, and my eyes are starting to water.

I woke up feeling off this morning, and it's increased throughout the day, and now I'm cold and just want to sleep.

Last time I remember being sick, I was eleven and I came down with a sinus infection.

I haven't been sick since.

Nobody here, nobody that knows me, has ever seen me sick.

I'm a monster when I'm sick.

And when I do get sick, I get sick.

Really high fevers. I get the worst-case-scenario every single time, but still, my immune system is strong.

I go into the bathroom, taking my purse with me, and I dig the thermometer out.

I take my temperature.

105.9

I don't remember ever having a fever that high.

I'm not ruining dinner.

I pull my phone from my purse and google when does a fever become deadly

It comes up with Wikipedia. I click on it, my eyes scanning it.

Rarely a fever may trigger a febrile seizure. This is more common in young children. Fevers do not typically go higher than 41 to 42 °C (105.8 to 107.6 °F).

A seizure?

I hesitate, and then I walk out of the bathroom.

"What's wrong? You look pale." Mom says.

I don't want to have a seizure.

"I um, think we should probably...like, go to the hospital?"

"Why?" Dad asks.

"Um, I have a fever." I say.

Noah sighs.

"I knew you were going to get it. It's okay. It's just a fever. We'll give you Nyquil, and-"

"It's 105.9." I say.

He whips around in his chair.

"What?" he asks.

"There's no way." Mom says.

I hand the thermometer to Noah.

"I read online it could trigger seizures."
