Chapter One
- Raelyn
"You mean to tell me...that you been blowing up my phone five minutes straight just to ask for some homework?" I asked my ex-boyfriend, Jamir.
"What you mean, 'just to ask,' the shit is important Rae."
"Important? Your ass don't even do your fucking homework! I'm at work Jamir, I got better shit to be doing."
"Better shit like what? Answering a damn phone?"
"How about you just stop trying to find a reason to call me? Bye," I quickly hung up the phone and threw it in the passenger seat.
Jamir and I were a couple for two years. It was bliss, literally. He's not your regular hood nigga. Jamir is crazy smart, he makes all A's and has a satisfying GPA. He's a street dude though. He grew up on the streets and that's what made him who he is. His mother worked as a CNA when he was a child, until she passed and he was sent to live with his grandmother. Fortunately, she lived in the same city and state. Mrs.Jaline raised Jamir to be a strong, respectful, and trustworthy man, and he has shown this.
In school, he's pretty quiet, but everybody fucks with him. He has his group of niggas he hangs with, and that's about it. He's different with those he are close with though, more of a shit talker.
Despite our breakup, we're still friends. I haven't seen him with another female and I haven't even looked for a guy. I think that we both have an understanding that we don't want to see the other with anyone else. But we just can't get it together long enough, to be with each other. Jamir was my first love. I don't care how young I am, I know how I feel, and I know that it's no ordinary feeling. I gave him my virginity, I opened up my entire world to him, he is someone special, and I don't plan on letting him go. But I do have to take sometime to myself.
I pulled into the driveway of my home behind my mother's car. After getting my purse, phone and charger, I got out of the car to go inside. Unlocking the door, I walked inside and made my presence known. I head into my room to get undressed. After showering, I lathered my body in lotion and put on my night clothes. Once I laid in bed, I decided to call Jamir and see what he was doing.
As I pulled up his name in my contacts, my pride got the best of me and I decided to just text him.
Me - Wassup?
11:30PM
I laid back watching 'Bring It!', while waiting for his response. I was trying to distract myself, so I wouldn't feel self conscious about texting him first. The wait for a reply always feels like forever, and I'm sure everyone can relate to that.
My phone vibrated beside me and I quickly reached for it. I saw his name and sat it back so I wouldn't respond too quickly. Once the show went on commercial, I grabbed my phone to see what he had said.
Jamir ❤️ - You tell me shordy.
11:37PM
Now everyone knows that the period at the end of a phrase means that somebody is trying to be brief with you.
Me - Shordy?? Cool.
11:40PM
Jamir ❤️ - What you want Rae?
11:41PM
Me - For you to stop acting like a ass. Come see me, now.
11:41PM
I know, it's crazy how I switch up on him. And I know I confuse him. But it's hard trying to express myself without putting too much out there. I just like being in his presence, but sometimes, as stated before, I need time to myself.
