My eyes looked up from the stack of paperwork to look at my son who was playing with his toys.

He has a love for cars and really loved the big toy truck that I had bought for him on the last Christmas.

"Come on, baby. You need to drink some water." I said, pointing at his water bottle which was filled to the brim.

I have been working in the office for the whole morning due to the recent auditor's visit and needed to check through the accounts before he makes his visit the next time.

And because of that, I have neglected my son's wellbeing. I am a very horrible mother.

He approached me with his truck in his hands and smiled at me. "Mama, see, I played with the truck."

I smiled, "Mhm, good. Now, drink water, okay?" I said, carrying him in my arms as I fed him. He took large gulps and finished one quarter of it before I released him to play with his toys.

There was a knock on the door while I looked up to see one of my employees rushing into the office.

"Ma'am, a few gang members showed up, demanding to see the manager." She rushed out her words with her eyes wide like saucers.

I stood up, walking towards her. "Take care of my son in the office, I will go out and handle this."

With that said, I was out of the office and strode into the restaurant confidently, even though deep down, I was already panicking.

My eyes caught sight of the customers flustering in panic while I cleared my throat to catch their attention.

"Everything will be fine, I will handle this." I reassured, looking towards the uninvited guests who were surrounding a particular booth.

A man was sitting on the booth with his back facing me while the rest who were standing wore a solemn look which could intimidate anyone at first glance.

"So, you are the manager?" One of the buff men asked, stepping forward with crossed arms.

I nodded, "I am. And, what can I do to help you?" I asked, hoping to make peace with them, instead of getting on their bad side.

Gangs were ruthless and merciless. They could burn down buildings, murder people if others get on their bad sides.

That's why I tried to avoid getting implicated with the gangs in this town, just so that I could protect the restaurant.

And there was no way in hell will I offend them and jeopardize the customer's safety.

"We're the new gang who had just taken over this town. We are here today to claim this restaurant and rebuild it for other purposes." He stated with a sly smirk.

No way. How can they do that?

"What if I don't comply with your wishes?" I retorted back with a surge of confidence rushing through my veins.

This restaurant was handed to me by the previous manager. I can't destroy his trust on me by letting the gang take over.

The man who was sitting on the booth this whole time stood up and walked towards me, his sunglasses covering his eyes.

He looked so familiar. It was like I have seen him before.

A dragon tattoo peeked out from his rolled up sleeves as he got closer to me until he was one step away from me.

Taking off his sunglasses, my eyes enlarged instantly in shock.

Chase.

He leaned in, his lips stopping by my right ear as I shuddered involuntarily.

It seems like he was the only one who could affect me this way, even after five years.

"No one has ever done that before, babe." He whispered while I shivered at the endearment he always used on me.

He took a step back and raked his eyes across my figure while I cowered under his lustful gaze.

"Mama." Leo shouted, his little footsteps rushing towards me while I turned around in shock.

Oh shit, I was in a big trouble this time.
