"So, Jessie." Daisy Wolf leaned forward in her seat. "Any hot girls this week?"

"Daisy," Olivia Reed scolded. "Just because she's lesbian doesn't mean you need the update every week!"

"Livvi,I can fend for myself, thank you very much," I insisted.

"Geez." She threw up her hands in defense.

Madeline Birman threw a spitball at Mary Davis through her straw.

"Maddi!" Mary shrieked.

"You were sitting there doing nothing!" Maddi replied.

Miriam Scale-Leah giggled.

"Ok, who had fries?" the waitress asked when she approached our table with our food.

Madeline raised a manicured hand. The waitress set her food down and asked us one by one who had what.

When she left, we ate in silence, silently telling each other how the food was with our eyes.

"You never answered me," Daisy said through a mouthful of fries.

"Oh. No." I blushed.

"Liar."

"Nuh uh!"

"Yuh huh!"

Miriam rolled her eyes.

"WELL," Maddi drawled. "I've got a cute guy report."

Olivia nodded her half-shaved head enthusiastically.

"You all know Anthony Thee, right?"

"DUH!" the five of us shrieked in unison.

"Well, he asked me to the dance in June. You know, the prom?"

"Oh," Olivia started, triggering our chain.

"My," Maddi said, beating Miriam to it.

"God," Miriam spat quickly.

Then Mary and I squealed.

"Why didn't you tell us sooner?" Mary asked.

"Because we do News on Fridays." Maddi looked down at her food.

"Right." I remembered our rule.

Why had everyone but me found love?
