Ann's POV

"Hey, sis! Good morning!" I said while coming down the stairs for breakfast.

"Good morning Ann!" Sis spoke while shuffling through the newspapers, to find The Statesman. Just like dad, sis was an avid reader of The Statesman. I went and sat beside her on the couch.

"Hey, guys! Good morning!" Pihu wished us while coming down the stairs all the way yawning!

"Hey, sleepyhead! Good morning!" We replied, chuckling. It has been really peaceful here, no more unnatural things happened that used to keep us up till late at night. We were really thankful to the Priest.

While we were talking Rita came out of the kitchen with trays full of delicious vanilla cupcakes, hot chocolate, bread with peanut butter, fruits, and milk.

"Wow! Thanks, Rita!" We exclaimed looking at the tasty breakfast laid in front of us. Smiling she joined us and we had an amazing breakfast all the while talking and laughing.

All of a sudden we heard the doorbell. Rita hurried to open the door, revealing a very sweet and adorable young girl somewhat of age 5 or 6 with golden-brown hair which was up to her waist and big green eyes with a small basket in her hand.

"Hey there! What's your name?" Rita asked her while we all went to the door to talk to her.

"Hello! My name is Nidhi... I live in the orphanage in the town. There we make many things on our own and on our free days we walk around the town to sell them to the local households."

"That's amazing!" Sis exclaimed and took her inside the house. She showed us the handmade bracelets that she has made and we all bought one for ourselves. Those bracelets were really very charming and exquisite. One among them particularly caught my attention. It was a simple and shiny Celestia bracelet. The brown cord was attached with a Taurus constellation made with sparkling stones with an intriguing matrix.

Siddharth might like it, I thought as I picked it up among the lot. He was a Taurus himself and this bracelet would look really great on him. My cheeks felt warm as I thought about him, I know sis must have already noticed as she was smirking at me while I was purchasing it. I hope he likes it, I thought as I held the paper bag in my hand, in which Nidhi packed the bracelet.

That girl left thanking us and bidding us goodbye. All of a sudden, as she was approaching the mountain road through the woods Shallow saw her while he was laying in the garden outside and at once started barking at her. He became so furious like he has seen something very strange and fearful. We tried to calm him down but he kept on barking at her until she was out of sight.

"What's wrong with you Shallow?" Pihu asked him, her voice vaguely irritated, "you nearly scared that little girl!"

We all walked back inside our house after calming down Shallow to complete our breakfast.

I have never seen him this bothered before, I thought as I petted while he laid on my lap. Today our school was closed due to a local festival in town. But sis had her clinic to attend to. She went to her room to get ready for her day while we got busy helping Rita with her work. As I was arranging the plates on the table a headline from the local newspaper caught my attention. I pulled out the local newspaper beneath the heap of the National newspapers which were all kept on our table.

The headline read 'Mysterious Death in Tezpur!', death? my eyebrows frowned a bit as I started reading the article.
