"How was Harry after I...died?" I asked suddenly, worry flashing in my eyes as I searched for Jade's. "Was it really bad?"
"Not gonna lie, but Harry was at his worst during that time. Everyone was. But Harry was the hardest to deal with. I can't even begin to explain how long it took me to convince him that I could help him and that he wasn't alone," she sighed heavily, her expression grim when she reminisced back to that time.
"He didn't do anything stupid right?" I whispered, hoping that the answer would be no. But I didn't receive an answer at all. Only silence. "Jade," I demanded.
"It'd be better if you ask him yourself," she murmured uncomfortably, averting her gaze to her feet as I huffed.
"He won't tell me and you know that," I reasoned with her. "Please." She looked up again, noticing my pleading gaze before she sighed and said instead.
"I'll tell you before I leave. I don't want to ruin your mood now, it's almost time to cut the cake," she gave me a tight smile before walking away, leaving my mind troubled as I pursed my lips.
But my thoughts soon vanished when I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around my shoulders and a firm kiss lay on my cheek. It was Louis. I turned around with a laugh, ruffling his hair before I hugged him tight, our heads turned to the side with our cheeks pressed together.
"My best bunny! I missed you so much," he cried dramatically, before I felt another pair of arms wrap around both of us from the other side.
"Don't leave me out!" Dexter whined, resting his chin on my head as he was slightly taller than both Louis and I.
I laughed, snaking an arm around Dexter's waist to hug him. My heart was bursting with joy as I stood there, engulfed in a human taco while Dexter and Louis cried about how we were the holy trinity now that I was back. This took me back to the many times I spent hanging out with my two 'best bunnies', organizing Harry's birthday, sleeping over whenever Harry was being a bitch. The memories were endless.
"Scarlett! It's time to cut the cake!" Harry yelled from across the room with a big grin, exiting the kitchen with Damien who held a giant triple layer cake.

As I held the knife in hand, standing in Harry's arms as everyone sang happy birthday cheerfully, I couldn't help but feel so overwhelmed. Lately all I've ever been was overwhelmed, overcome with shock, happiness, sadness, the list was endless. But at this moment, the only thing I felt was happiness, something I haven't felt in a long time. Seeing all these smiling faces gazing at me, gave me joy, because even though we've all been through hell and back, didn't let it ruin us. We all stuck through it, and we all stayed strong.
Once the singing ended, everyone cheered, Harry's lips pressing against my cheek in a firm kiss before he pulled back to gaze me.
"Happy birthday my love," he murmured with a smile, giving me another kiss before pulling away to allow me to cut the cake. "Wait! Make a wish first!" I rolled my eyes nevertheless listening to him and pausing my movements.
Even though I was supposed to make one wish, I sort of wished for several things. I wished for a lifetime of happiness like this. A future with Harry where we'd run away and hide from our former assassin lives, start a family and hope they would be surrounded by the people here I call my own family.

LMAO I SAW THAT CAKE PIC AND HAD TO ADD IT IN YO!
💀 what did you guys think of that chapter? Who predicted the surgery would be a success? I know most of you didn't 😉
💀apologies for this but I feel that Run & Hide won't have as many chapters as Kill & Run did. Basically the book is shorter. I'll make sure to tell you when we're like a few chapters away from the end or when I have an idea of how many there will be in general.
