Although you may not think it, boys are far more insecure than girls. Try not to reject them harshly and if they have a crush on you, just be nice to them. If you hurt them (although you may not realise that you have ) they will end up setting 'defences' or 'walls' against you. This is also pretty upsetting for you because he could end up 'ignoring ' you because he wants to keep his pride. Just try to be nice to them.
If they do set up 'defences' against you, don't worry. Just be nice to them and be a friend. Don't push him to talk to you though. It just takes time.
