She is still not back?

"In here, honey." I hear her call from the living room. Happy that mum is home again I walk eagerly towards her voice.

"Hey, mum what wa-," I say as I enter but stop immediately. Sitting on the couch is none other than Jack Davis.

"No!" I breathe and stare at him in horror.

"What is he doing here?" I ask in horror and turn to mum, giving her a look filled with betrayal. She answers my gaze with an apologetic look.

"Honey, Jack is going to be living with us from now on and I want you to show him the respect he deserves." She says and gives me a warning look.

"Respect? What? No! Mum, he can't live here! You have to give the other parents in town some time, maybe someone will take care of him!"

"The time is up, Sarah, he needs somewhere to live now and we're his only option." She says sternly.

"Excuse me, may I remind you that I am still in the room?" Jack's voice is ice cold as he gives me one of his many death glares.

I glare right back at him and I feel like sticking my tongue out.

"I don't like people talking about me as if I am not there and need I remind you that I am not a child? I can take care of myself." He mutters, staring at mum.

"Obviously not. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here." I say coolly and Jack's eyes narrow at me.

"Shut your mouth or I will do it for you." Jack threatens and anger trickle through me like a sickness.

"Oh yeah? Should I remind you that you are in my home, jerk, so you better watch it." I snap back.

"That is enough! I don't want that kind of language in my house." Mum interrupts and gives us both an angrily stare. "You are both grown up, so you better act like it. Jack, Sarah is right. If you want to live here, you need to show some respect and Sarah the same goes for you."

Jack has risen from the sofa and boy is he tall, but I won't let his psychical appearance scare me. I can kick his ass if I want to, that is what devoted thai boxing training gives you.

"What?" I turn stunned towards mum and Jack grins at me.

"That is not fair!" I scream running after mum, who is heading towards the kitchen.

"Yeah well, life isn't fair, Sarah, now I don't want to hear any more complaining about this! I am starting dinner. In the meantime, you will make sure Jack settles in." She demands. My jaw drops, make sure he settles in? She wants me to help him? And socialize with him?

"Now, Sarah," Mum says and pushes me towards the living room.

Dumbfounded, I stagger back into the room where Jack is. He is studying a photograph of my sister and me. I am about six years old and riding on Lana's back; laughing, without a care in the world. Jack looks up when I enter the room and raises a brow at me.

"Cute," he says sarcastically and nods towards the photo. I blush but hold onto his gaze.

"Thanks." I answer nonchalantly, acting unaffected. Jack shrugs and continues to inspect the room. "Do you want a tour?" I ask ironically.

"A tour?" He repeats and turns to me.

"Of the house." I explain and comprehension washes over Jack's face, then it turns dark.

"I don't want anything from you." He says and gives me a cold look. I narrow my eyes at him.

"Don't expect it, Davis. I am only asking because my mum forced me. You want me to leave? I will gladly do it." I hiss at him and start walking up the stairs.
