I shook my head and proceeded walking beside Kiel who was giving me a knowing look. Unbelievable.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you purposely made me go with you because you secretly like me." I rolled my eyes, stating the impossible.
I bet the only reason Clark wanted me there was because he didn't want to deal with Jesse. Poor guy.
"What?" Clark questioned. I looked at him over my shoulder and found him wearing a look of surprise and confusion.
My eyebrows furrowed, "I was only joking."
He blinked, "I know." he cleared his throat and maneuvered himself between Kiel and myself and walked ahead of us.
Once he was out of sight, Kiel laughed.
"Somebody almost slipped up." he wiggled his eyebrows at me.
I glared at him "I didn't." I said firmly.
He shook his head, a smile on his lips, "Oh I know. I wasn't talking about you Jade."
I tipped my head to the side in bewilderment, "Do you know something I don't Kiel?"
He smiled and just winked at me before walking away, "Come now. We don't want to be late, now do we?"
I stood in the middle of the hallway, thinking. I don't understand him. I don't understand him at all.
I decided to stop thinking about everything and just get this stupid party over with. And this time, this is no favour. I'll make Clark pay me back somehow. I'm not that nice and he knows it.
Determined, I stalked off towards the parking while the screws in my head were turning. They may have been a bit loose because somehow, I couldn't stop thinking about french fries. It didn't matter though. I would eventually think of somehow I could make Clark do in compensation for he's been making me do these past few days.

The 'party' was as boring as I imagined it would be. Or maybe I only think that because I could barely understand what people were talking about. Kiel went off with some of his friends and told me that he would just meet me later. I didn't mind because we didn't really come as a group. He was invited here by the host while I was only Clark's luggage. It really doesn't help that I have no idea where he is either.
The bastard was out of sight as soon as we arrived! God, if only I knew this would happen, I wouldn't have let Kiel go off elsewhere.
This place was packed with famous people and it was obvious I didn't fit in. Even though I had no idea who most of them were, they still intimidated me. A lot of them already gave me the stink eye, which only added to my insecurity.
I seldom felt insecure but when I did, I can promise you that it is a big deal.
I decided to head over to the buffet table so I could at least escape some of the cold stares I was getting from the people who entered. Yes, I was still at the entrance.
My mouth almost watered once I had laid my eyes on the food before me. From left to right was a variety of exotic seafood I had never seen before in my entire life besides on the cooking channel Leslie frequently watched on the telly.
I was tempted to take a picture of it but I knew I'd look like some commoner if I did. Fitting in was hard. Maybe that's why I never did it.
I took at least one of everything that it almost didn't fit into the three plates I was holding up. Some people already stared at me weirdly but this time, I didn't care. This was food. I don't have manners or shame whenever it came to food.
