I groaned, getting tired of the conversation, "Why not? It's not like it matters anymore. Things are settled and we just have to accept it." I told him with finality in my voice, "Besides, it's me who he asked out. Leave this problem to me. I can handle my own mess."
When he didn't answer, I knew he was upset. I looked at him and found him frowning. I was right.
I sighed, "Look Clark, I know you're just trying to be a good friend but I can handle this."
Now, it was his turn to sigh, "You don't know the guy."
I nodded, "As he doesn't know me." I countered, "What are you even worried about?" I asked.
I can feel that his worried. I'm not numb after all, but I don't know why he would be this worried. It was only a date. I wasn't even that mad about it. I was only irritated about the fact that I was tricked into doing something I didn't want. I would never admit that it was my stupidity that caused this out loud.
"Just...you." he replied, "You're just a living core of trouble. You attract bad luck everywhere you go."
"Hey!" I glared at him, "I don't attract bad luck." I tried to convince him but it was no use. Sometimes, Clark knew me too well for my liking. I had changed over the time we were ignoring each other but he could still read me.
The discussion ended when we had entered the studio's parking lot. Clark told me that Kiel would be meeting us in his room to help us get ready.
I feel slightly uneasy because Kiel knows that I fancy Clark. I know I can trust him but he teases me just to amuse himself and I mind that a lot. He very adamant that I get my feelings straight and confess otherwise I'd get hurt. He hasn't said anything but I can sense it through his actions.
He told me that it was hard being in love with your best friend but he's been trying to do something. It's as if he knows something and he wants it to happen.
I'll never understand people.
"Jade!" Kiel called enthusiastically. He squealed --a gayish-like squeal-- before he basically tackled me to the ground.
I groaned, not having enough strength to support him. He was heavy!
"Nice to see you too Kiel." Clark said sarcastically.
Kiel broke from our hug and rolled his eyes at Clark, "Oh please. We just saw each other yesterday. I haven't seen Jade in forever."
"We only met yesterday though." I interjected.
Kiel stared at me for while before spoke, "What's your point?"
I waved my hand dismissively, "Forget I said anything."
"Let's get started then." Clark nodded, "We have forty-five minutes to get ready Kiel."
Kiel smiled, "Leave everything to me."
~~
In a span of thirty minutes, both Clark and I were ready to go. Kiel had divided the time he was given. He worked on Clark first for ten minutes, then twenty minutes on me. He worked so fast it was unbelievable.
He didn't do much, only the basic. I wore the same dress I wore last night. Good thing it wasn't dirty or anything. Kiel had kept my hair down and curled the ends a bit. He applied light make-up because I told him to.
We had argued for two minutes because he said he wanted to do something more extraordinary but I refused. After the struggle I had last night to take off all the make-up he had applied on my face, I was traumatised. I wouldn't be wanting a repeat of that anytime soon.
