When a monster is born, they cannot use their powers until the age of five. They usually inherit their parent's powers, or variations of it. If a monster dreams of a power when very young, they may receive it, but this happens to few.
When a monster dies, they turn to dust. At their funeral, their dust is spread over the thing that they loved most, whether it be living or not.
The magic of a monster can grow strong, along with their soul, if they train. Though magic can start at five, most find it at seven. The oldest monster to discover magic was Gerson, who discovered it at the age of 72.
