But It's Better If You Do

Too Little Too Late

My class was finished which meant I finally had a period to myself without Meulin breathing down my throat. I headed out to the courtyard when I happened to see A sitting by herself under one of the trees. Now's my chance.

I made my way over to where she sat and stood silently. Where do I even fucking start?

"A, I-"

"What? You miss me? You didn't mean to hurt me? It's not your fault and you want me back? Fuck that noise. I was always there for you, I always had your back, and I gave you all of me; it's always been you even from the time we first met, but you fucked it up. You don't get to take it back and you don't get to tell me that it's all just a misunderstanding." She yelled.

"A, no, listen it's not like that." I shouted grabbing on to her. I just needed her to listen, to hear my side so she'd know that I was just doing what I could to protect her.

"Let go of me she!" she growled.

"JUST FUCKING LISTEN!" I snapped.

I leaned in closer to her face; I don't know what the fuck I was thinking or planning on doing, but before I could get any closer I got pulled up by the back of my shirt. I turned to see Ampora gripping my shirt while Gamzee stood next to him glaring at me. Aubergine jumped up and ran to Gamzee's side. It wasn't supposed to be this way- it wasn't supposed to happen like this...

"Y'knowv, you really bug me." Cronus growled spitting out his cigarette.

"Fuck off, Ampora, this shit has nothin' to do with you." I snarled.

"Vwhen A baby's cryin' on my shoulder 'cuz your candy ass is off playing backseat bingo vwith a paper shaker then it's my problem." He retorted.

"Get lost." I warned shoving him back.

"You're cruisin' for a bruisin', Makara."

I swear to shit I lost it. I balled my fist up and aimed straight for Ampora's face; fish-dick was gonna get his ass handed to him. Cronus caught my fist then kneed me in the stomach; I doubled over clutching my gut. Before Ampora could get another hit in a ran at him punching him straight in the ribs. Cronus hissed and grabbed the back of my shirt pulling me off; I punched him square in the jaw and watched as blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. Ampora turned fiercely and punched me right in the eye. My vision blurred and I was starting to see stars; I was losing it, but I'd be damned if I just gave up and walked off. Cronus punched me in the chest and I stumbled back trying to catch my breath. I let my guard down and Ampora advanced hitting me in the ribs; I felt it crack and let out strangled moan. Fuck. Fatigue was starting to set in, but if I didn't fight back Ampora was gonna kick my ass. I swung wildly not aiming for anything in particular. In one swift motion my fist connected with Ampora's nose; he stumbled back wiping the blood from his face. Now! The plan was to keep swinging recklessly in hopes of pinning Ampora down. I glanced to the sideline to see A staring wide eyed at us. What was I even doing? What was I trying to prove? I froze.

"That's enough, shit face." Gamzee growled pushing me back. I couldn't even fight anymore. I clutched my rib and looked over to A once more; she ran to Ampora's side before yelling at him and dragging him off towards the main building. I stood out in the courtyard by myself as blood dripped slowly from my mouth. I really fucked up this time, didn't I?
