"Hey, mom," I said, walking into my house that afternoon. I dropped my bag in the foyer and continued to her office. It was in the back of the house, but voices carry very well because our house was so open.

"Hello dear," she said, not looking up from whatever she was doing. She sat at her big dark wood desk paper surronding her and a laptop open.

I sagged into one of the chairs in front of her desk, and put my legs over the arm of the chair.

"You know I don't like you sitting like that," she said again, without looking at me. I knew she didn't, which is exactly why I did it. Anything to get her to pay attention.

"I got the lead role in Cinderella, I found out today." I said, looking for a reaction.

"That's nice dear," she replied.

"And I'm dating Justin Bieber."

"How lovely."

"You know, the superstar?"

"How exciting." She carried on in the same boring tone.

"And I'm flying out to Los Angeles tomorrow to see him. I don't know how long I'm going to stay though. We'll probably run off and have a shot gun wedding, rob some banks, then jump off a bridge together because we would rather die together than live separately."

"Have fun, dear. No if you will excuse me, I have a phone call to make." I sighed and left. This was the daily routine, when she was home that is. Usually she worked at the office really late then went out to dinner with who knows. She didn't care if I told her I was going upstairs to take a toxic dose of her sleeping pills so I could leave, she wasn't listening anyway. So I went to the one person who would listen, Janessa.

Janessa had helped around my house since I was a baby. Or so I think, I don't remember life without her. She basically managed the household, I hate calling her the maid because she is so much more to me. She was Portuguese, and her kids were much older. She was a short woman, with dark hair.

"Janessa, guess what?" I said, walking into the kitchen and sitting down at the island.

"What's that, princess?"

"I got the lead role in Cinderella!"

"That's wonderful sweetie! Now I have all the more reason to call you Princess!" She bowed in front of me and I laughed. "Now, have you done your homework?"

"No," I mumbled guiltly. I grabbed my bag from the corner of the kitchen where Janessa had put it, and trudged upstairs. But when I got up there, all I wanted to do was lay on my bed and gaze at all the posters I had of Justin. What if I really flew out to Los Angeles to see him? That would be crazy, and awesome!
