Chapter Eight: Breakfast Adventures

Start from the beginning

Dean was getting the death stare by Bentley, who was protectively guarding the container of pancakes. These men were going to be the death of me. Dean sat across from him, a very satisfied smile on his face. Castiel had shown up and was laughing at something Sam had been trying to explain, but couldn't seem to get if fully out from his own laughter. This was the happiest I had seen any of these men, ever, and I couldn't help but absorb the scene before me in.

Cass and I sat down. I was sitting next to Bobby and Cassidy was sitting across from Bentley, next to Dean. We all served up and laughed and talked. By the time we had gotten a fourth of the way through breakfast my sides were soar from laughing so hard.

To be honest, I had no idea what happened to start it but suddenly I heard Cass blurt out "You son of a bitch!" and launch eggs across the table at Bentley, instantly turning bright red with embarrassment.

"I AM SO SORRY!!!" she exclaimed horrified with her own actions, but the damage had already been done. The eggs, which had been covered with fry sauce, had hit Bentley square in the forehead. All out war broke out within a fraction of a second. Sam let out a laugh but was quickly silenced when Bentley threw a spoon full of potatoes, hitting him in the side of the face.

Food was flying and we were all trying to avoid each others shots. Dean dove for the pancake batter container and laughed manically as a large spoonful of it splattered across my face. I don't remember exactly how long the fight lasted but when we were done, the kitchen looked like a food-filled bomb exploded. Which in a way, it sort of had. We were in no better of condition. Sam and Bentley's hair was spiked with pancake batter. Cassidy and Castiel were both covered with ketchup covered potatoes. Bobby had more eggs on him than I had thought we had made and Dean and I were an assortment of foods including bacon, eggs, potatoes, and tons of pancake batter. We had been each others victims.

With lots of laughing and stupid grins, we slowly began to pick of the destroyed kitchen. It took quiet a while for us to find all the spots where food had landed, but eventually we had the kitchen clean, then it was our turns. Cassidy, in a flash, sprinted for the bathroom at full speed to shower first, leaving the rest of us in our food fight covered clothing. I suppressed a laugh when I noticed that Cas had the entire front of his shirt covered with Ketchup, making him look like one of those war hero's you see in the movies. I'm pretty sure that this had been Bobby's handy work, considering I vaguely remember the bottle being in his hands when the war began.

One by one we all cleaned ourselves up. As I got dressed I couldn't help but smile and be thankful to be in fresh clothes again. I went into Cassidy's room, my wet hair hanging down around my face.

"Fun breakfast, huh?" I asked with a smirk, "Worth getting up for wasn't it?" Cass smiled at me from the bed.

"Definitely," she said, her big, dark eyes, shining, "Hey, you should let me braid your hair." I shrugged and walked over to the bed, sitting down on the floor as Cass began to braid my long, wet tresses.

"Thank you," She said, her fingers twisting and tucking the strands.

"For what?" I replied with a tilt of my head. "It was just breakfast."

"Stop moving your head!" Cassidy sternly said, but without any really threat behind her words. She continued," I mean, thank you for bringing me with you. For letting me come here and start over...Without you I'd still be trapped there. With those people..." I felt her shudder behind me.

"I owe you the same thanks," I said honestly," Without your help I would probably be trying to steel bobby pins to pick the locks to get to the front door, without any knowledge of the small fortune set up for me be Jared and Jensen. You are one awesome kid." I knew she was smiling because she didn't say anything for a minute. Then with a flourish of her hands she was finished.

"Voila!" She said triumphantly. I smiled and turned around to her.

"Thanks. " Cass smiled down at me then blushed very suddenly.

"I feel bad for calling Bentley an S.O.B...." she said looking down at her hands. I couldn't help but giggle slightly.

"Cass, don't worry about it! They all know that your tourettes will kick in. Plus I promise it isn't the worst thing that he has been called in his lifetime." She still looked skeptic and a bit ashamed but not nearly as much as a few seconds ago. This kid was going to be the death of me too. I got up off the ground and gave her a hug.

"Rachel?" Cass asked me through the hug.

"Yeah Cass?" I said letting her go.

"Is breakfast like that everyday?" She asked seriously. Again I was over taken with a vast explosion of giggles. I had to also remind myself of something, Cassidy has grown up in that psych ward and had no real conception of daily life. Hell, and I can guarantee that her life before the ward was defiantly a far cry from my lifestyle. The Hunter lifestyle. With a smiling shake of my head I told her no, but that each time it was always a surprise experience. She nodded in understanding and laid back on her bed.

I watched her for a minute and decided that I, no, we as a family, needed to get her introduced into the life or at least a glimpse of it so that she honestly knows what it is that we do, and the dangers that come with it. That would also mean training her, even if it was just a small amount, plus I still needed to refresh my own abilities.

I looked over at her," Hey Cass, you know how you said you've never really shot a gun?"

"Yeah?"

"Would you like to learn?"
