I walked over to her and grasped her head, hugging her to me.
“Oh Moon, what am I to do?” I whispered, and she heard the plea in my voice.
“Tell him how you feel,” she said, her voice muffled against my clothing.
I pulled away. “Am I that transparent?” I asked sheepishly.
She smiled.
“To everyone but him.”
I nodded, and kissed her nose. I walked out of the stables and nearly ran into Alex.
His face lit up, and my heart skipped a beat.
“There you are! You ready?”
I nodded eagerly.
“Race you to the forest,” I said, and ran away.
He beat me of course, and we started our hunt.
We found a herd of deer when we reached a small clearing, and we hunted. After we were sated, I ran back into the forest, and sat down on a log. Alex joined me shortly after.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked me.
“My life,” I said, thinking of him.
“Ah, well I’ve been thinking about that to,”
I looked up at him surprise.
“You have?”
“Yes,” he said, a bit uncomfortably, and stood up and started to pace. “Your birthday is next month.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, and?”
He placed his hands behind his back and resumed pacing, ship captain style.
“Well you will officially be a woman, and I think its high time to find you a husband,”
I felt like my heart had been ripped into two pieces.
“What?”
“Your father has requested my help in you finding a husband, Addy,”
“But… I don’t want a husband,”
He scoffed. “Addy, be reasonable. You have to have a husband.”
I stood up from the log.
“No! The only way I’ll get married is if I get to choose my husband!”
It was then the rain started to pour.
He took off his coat and placed it over my head.
“Let’s find shelter!” he yelled, and I nodded.
