The poem

For once I wish to be the poem,
Instead of the poet I've been.
Rather than forming metaphors on my tongue,
I'd protect them beneath my skin.
For once I wish to be the receiver,
Rather than giving out pieces of heart;
As a writer, a lover, a dreamer I'm destined
To give as I'm falling apart.
