While you are going places different Pokemon will appear on your screen, tapping on the one that you want will let you catch it. To catch a Pokemon you will need to swipe up on your screen to throw the pokeballs. When your finger is on a pokeball there will be a circle inside of the circle around the Pokemon that will keep getting smaller, if you want to get extra xp throw the pokeball when the circle is the smallest. Also you can spin the pokeball before throwing it to get a curveball bonus.
You can get Pokemon eggs from pokestops. You have to walk a specific distance to hatch different eggs. There are three types of eggs, 2, 5 and 10 kilometer eggs. Two being the worst egg and ten being the best egg. Many people use different methods to hatch eggs. Some being driving slowly in an empty parking lot, Attaching their phones to their dogs, putting their phone on a roomba, taping their phone to a ceiling fan and many other stuff.
