Day by day, I stare at the door. Waiting for a doorbell that never came.

My phone is taunting. Teasing. Snickering. His name blinking on the screen.

One button. Press the green button. And I will be calling him.

My hand hovers over the green phone icon. Hovers, lowers, raises, but never presses.

The curtains are drawn. Shadows jump out at me, and the bed is unmade. With my other hand, I clutch the bedsheets tighter. Pull them to me, and wrap myself in all its warmth.

But it is not enough.

One call away. He is one button away.

But I daren’t press.

Because, I know, there would be some time that I have to say goodbye.

And I don’t like waving goodbye to him.
