It was after twelve in the afternoon, and Mona was still asleep, but you couldn't blame her though. She had stayed up the whole night perfecting a painting that she'd been working on for ages

See Mona was an artist, well kinda, she didn't really showcase her art, but she did consider herself an artist. She did everything from painting, writing poetry, songs, taking photographs...she was just being an artistic being. But her actual job was as an accountant at one of her dad's car dealership, art was just something she did in her spare time. Plus it didn't hurt that it paid well...sometimes

It's not like she didn't love her job, she did, but all that artistic nature was just a sideline hobby that she did when she wanted to clear her head. But accounting was her first love, she loved messing around with numbers, trying to figure out how to make them play to her tune

"Hai sies" her mum barged into her room, looking ever the queen she always was, "Nare waitsi gore ke nako mang?" She questioned, frowning at her daughter's sleeping form
(No man. Do you know what time it is?)

Mmapula Legae

Mona groaned at her mother's presence, thinking how it was a bad idea to give her mum the key to her house. She knew that Mrs Legae would pull some shit like this when she begged her for a key. Now, Mona has to deal with her coming in, and out, as though she owned the place

"Hai Mona, tsoga man" her mum pulled the comforter off of Mona's sleeping body
(No man, wake up)

Mona groaned again, then tried to cover herself back up, but was unable to reach her comforter, "Keng ma? Ntlogele tuu"
(What ma? Leave me alone, please)

Now there's a reason why Mmapula had named her daughter Mona, and it was because she was obsessed with Da Vinci's Mona Lisa painting when she was growing up. Her mother was just as much an artistic being as Mona was, the only difference was that Mmapula had Niko, who could calm her down when she was over thinking and needed a release, whereas Mona, felt like she was better off on her own
