Tobin POV

I sat on the couch by myself, that is until Kelley walked in.
"Did you hear?" She asked.
"About what?" I said.
"About who showed up at Alex's door." She said sitting down.
"Who?" I asked trying to play it cool.
"Brianna." She said. My eyes went wide.
"She asked Alex if they could get back together."
"What'd de say?" I asked more intensely leaning forward. Kelley looked me up and down for a while.
"Why do you care? You don't like Alex anymore." She stood up and walked away. I sat there in confusion until I followed her.
"Kel. Kel. KEL!" She finally turned around.
"I'd still like to know." I said trying to be cool again.
"Why does it matter?" She asked.
"Well even if I'm...not in love with her, I guess I still care about her." Kelley looked me over again and crossed her arms.
"She said she wasn't sure. That she wanted time to think about it." I nodded my head but inside I was screaming. I didn't know if I was happy because she said no or angry that Brianna came back.
"Alright well, there's a party like three blocks away tonight, you in?" She asked.
"Mmmmm I don't know." I said as I went to sit back on the couch.
"Oh cmon Tobs it's a Friday night! Jut come with us." She said.
"Kel," I said.
"Please Tobs?" She said.
I threw my head back and sighed, "Alright, alright fine."
The day came and went and suddenly it was time for the party. I'd walked there with my friends being it was close by. I'd heard the music right when we stepped out of my house.
"I don't know about this guys." I said as we reached the steps.
"Get in there, have a good time." Ash said. I sighed and we walked in. I looked around and saw so many people looking at us.
"Hey you know what guys?" I yelled over the music, "I'm gunna take a quick cigarette break." I said.
"Shit Tobs, when did you start that again!" Kelley asked.
"Long story." I said. I walked around to the back of whoever's house this was and found a pool. For some reason, no one was in it. So I walked out into the diving board and sat or the edge, my feet dangling below me. I smoked the cigarette for about 20 minutes until I started to go inside. When I got there I headed straight for the alcohol. I downed a beer and asked for another.
"Take it easy Tobs." Kelley walked up behind me.
"I've been thinking too much lately dude." I said. I took the other beer and started drinking. After an hour I was about six beers in, and getting a little tipsy. I sat in the wooden staircase drinking as everyone danced.
"Tobin, right?" Someone sat down next to me. I nodded my head.
"I'm Felicia." She put her hand out for me to shake which I did. She smiled up at me.
"I've been seeing you all night." She said I laughed in response.
"I just didn't have the courage to talk to you." She said.
"I don't bite." I said trying to be polite.
She leaned in and whispered in my ear, "But what if I want you to?" I felt a chill go down my spine. I stood up and out my hands out.
"I-uh-I think you got the wrong idea." I said.
"You think?" She asked, "Because, I liked where we were going." She walked closer to me.
"I-I gotta go." I turned around and bolted to the kitchen. I stood over the sink and let out a deep breath. I looked around, no one I really knew.
"Hey there." I felt a hand on my back.
"I've been waiting for a time to get you alone." I turned to see a short girl with dark hair and brown eyes.
"I'm Tammy." She said.
"I'm not looking for a relationship." I said backing away.
"Sometimes you find what you want when you stop looking for it." She took a step closer and I bolted out the kitchen into what seemed to be a bedroom. I took a seat on the bed and let out another breath.
I heard the door open and a girl in a green dress with red hair walked in.
"Looks like I've got company." She said with a smirk. I stood up and pushed passes her. What the hell was going on? My stomach was in knots and I didn't know what do do. I made it back down the the living room, red and out of breath. I made eye contact with Kelley across the room and ran out the front door. I was breathing so hard and I felt like I was gunna throw up. I mess it halfway down the block before I had to stop and put my hands on my knees. I felt my back rise and fall as I coughed struggling to breath. I heard door steps behind me and a hand in my back. I looked up and recognized Kelley.
"What the hell happened?" She asked.
"These girls just kept talking to me and I don't, I just felt so weird and uncomfortable, and I don't even know man." I said.
"See now, if you were with Alex, this wouldn't happen." She said. I coughed again.
"Give it a rest Kel." I said.
"I'm just saying." Cough.
"Alex and I aren't a thing, and we never will be." Cough.
"Yeah because you won't let it happen." She said.
"No, because Ali won't let it happen." Cough.
"Bullshit. Yeah yeah you told me what she said to you but your letting her get in the way." Cough.
"Fuck off." I said. I felt her lift her hand from my back.
"You know what, fine, I will. You just stay here wallowing in misery, and then try to hide it with Brooke and a million other skanks."
"Man why can't you be on my side for once? Why do you always have to make things so hard?" I said.
"Me? I'm not the one who had a chance with the girl I've loved for four years and is blowing her off."
"That's not what's going on."
"I don't wanna fucking hear it Tobin. I'm fed up with your bullshit. Go back to all your bitches!"
"No!" I yelled.
"Why? Why the fuck not? I'm getting out of your way! Isn't this what you want?"
"No!" I yelled, "I-I want Alex." I dropped to my knees and Kelley walked back over to me.
"I want her so bad. I want her with me." I said leaning against Kelley.
"Then why the fuck aren't you with her?" She whispered.
"Because Ali-" she cut me off.
"Bullshit."
"Let me finish." I said. "Because Ali made me think. Alex is so fucking amazing. And, we know how bad I am with commitment. And I can't hurt Alex like that again. I don't wanna hurt her Kel."
"You don't have to." She said. "I know you, and I know you can be with Alex without letting her down like that." She held me in her arms a bit longer.
"Cmon." I said standing up.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"To tell Alex."
"Tobs, I don't-" I cut her off.
"Kel it's now or never." She nodded and we ran back to my house. We grabbed a guitar and keyboard and drive to Alex's house.
"Well?" Kelley said.
"The light's on in her room. There's no other cars here. I think she's all alone. I said looking around. We got out of the car and set up right under her window.
"Lex?" I called up a few times she came to the window and when she saw me she looked at me for a few seconds before walking away and turning the lights off. I let out a sigh.
"So...are we...?" Kelley started.
"Absolutely." I slung the guitar over my shoulder and Kelley started playing and I started singing.

11 blocks from my door to your doorstep
Three years later and it feels too close
I thought I broke the last of that breakdown
The morning I sold your winter coat
It doesn't feel right when I'm grabbing a coffee
The same old spot, but I'm on my own
I feel OK in the day, but at nighttime
You know how I get when I'm alone

Cause my mind won't stop; it's just 11 blocks
I know that you're home
Cause it's Friday night; you're not that type
I know that you're home

I looked up to the window. Nothing.

14 blocks from your door to this party
I caught myself counting on the way
And right when I stepped in the door to the party
I stepped outside to grab a smoke
You know how I get when I'm alone, no

Cause my mind won't stop; it's just 14 blocks
I know that you're home
Cause it's Friday night; you're not that type
I know that you're home
Someone stop me, please, from hurting myself
Cause I'm two blocks away and you're hurting my health
And it's Friday night; you're not that type
I know that you're home

Somebody stop me
I should be going home
Somebody stop me
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah

Well, I met someone
And I think I'm in love

But my mind won't stop; it's just 11 blocks
I know that you're home
Cause it's Friday night; you're not that type
I know that you're home
And, I met someone and I swear I'm in love
But I'm two blocks away and you're just like a drug
My mind won't stop; it's just 11 blocks
I know that you're home

I looked up. I'm not sure, but I swear I saw a silhouette.

I got somebody
Waiting for me at home
I got somebody
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah

11 blocks from my door to your doorstep
Three years later and it feels too close

I waited for s few minutes. Nothing. I turned to Kelley and shrugged my shoulders. I started to pack up when I noticed Kelley just standing their. I looked up at her and she pointed behind me. I turned around and saw her. She held her own hands and looked down. I slowly walked towards her. She looked up at me.
"Lex, I'm-" she cut me off when our lips connected. I kissed her back for a second.
"You can apologize later." She said.
"So, does this mean, we're good? You forgive me?" I asked. She sighed and let go of me.
"I don't know." She said. "I can't just go right back to being with you. I need to think about this." I nodded my head, but she stepped to me.
"But right now, I just wanna be close to you." She whispered and snaked her arms around my neck. I hugged her so tight, as if I never had to let go.
