"A ball held by The Comet? Pretty sure The Organization is on top of the guest list," I found myself responding coolly, feeling foreign that I was talking to her like we were strangers. In a way we were strangers, due to her loss in memories.
I finally turned to face her, my bright green eyes locking with her alluring dark ones, bringing back a thousand memories of how I fell in love with those exact pair of eyes, which now stared back at me with no emotion. I forced myself to turn the corners of my lips upwards, smirking at her lightly before I turned away to take a swig of my scotch.
"The Organization won't be at the top forever y'know?" she muttered, her face completely stoic as she spoke.
"Are you going to make sure of that?"
"Not me. Her," she said, ticking her head in the direction of Viola, whom chatted causally with a group of people.
"But you're her puppet, her being the puppet master," I spoke quietly.
"Unfortunately that's true, I don't have a choice," she told me, thumb tracing the gold Yves Saint Laurent sign on the top of her nude clutch.
"You do," I blurted out, causing her to frown at me.
"Is this about that night, when you called me-"
"Scarlett," I whispered, swallowing thickly as I bobbed my head and looked away. The emotions from that night were still fresh in my memory, the way my heart broke when she gazed back in confusion when I said her name.
"Who is that?" I heard her say, her words almost making me want to scoff, but I simply shook my head sadly.
"It's you, you're Scarlett and you don't even know it," I mumbled sadly, glancing at my watch reading the time as 9:15.
"I-I'm sorry, they did something to me so I can't remember," she stuttered, unsure of what to say. She looked conflicted, deciding on whether to question me more on her past or whether I was just lying to her this entire time. "Tell me more," she demanded, her eyes alert now, almost frustrated with her self for not remembering.
"What more would you like to know?" I asked, taking another sip from my scotch. She drew back, gaze averting as she bit her lip thoughtfully.
"Okay, first off, Viola said I grew up with Omega. I was abandoned as a child and she saved me and I've been training ever since to be a part of αήττητος," she told me, eyes looking up as she tried to recall whatever lies Omega had told her. "Recently I was getting suspicious since I couldn't remember my past at all, so she told me I got caught up in an accident during a mission and lost my memories-"
"Lies," I uttered, my voice incredibly low and filled with anger. My jaw was clenched; pale jade eyes narrowed drastically as I stared down at his glass, clutching it until my knuckles turned white. "Those are all lies."
"I knew it," she whispered, shaking her head slightly as her gaze caught the sight of Viola laughing at something an old fat man said to her, in the distance.
I shook my head bitterly, my lips forming a tight grimace as I felt the anger boil in my veins. I wanted to hurl this glass of scotch at the wall in fury, utterly vexed by the fact that these people think they can just do something like that to Scarlett. They faked her death, took away her memories, told her lies about her past just so she wouldn't get suspicious, and I was sure they were using her for some reason which we had yet to find out.
Leaving my glass on the counter, I stood up, glancing at Scarlett as a signal to follow me before I walked. Her perfect brows pulled together in slight confusion before she followed me. We climbed up the stairs, moving to the first floor where it was mostly empty except for a few people chatting and drinking champagne.
But suddenly, behind me I heard an oomph. Spinning around, I found Scarlett apologizing to a man she had bumped into before crouching down to pick up her things that had fallen out of her clutch. Glaring at the man who simply looked back at me in confusion, I moved to help her. My gaze caught something glinting on the floor, a silver necklace with a ring as it's pendent. The ring looked utterly familiar, and when I picked it up I realized why.
"Holy shit," I breathed, staring at the ring Scarlett had given me ages ago. The silver ring that had the word 'Always' engraved into it.
"What? That's mine," she muttered, trying to snatch it out of my hands but I pulled back quickly. She furrowed her brows, noticing how strangely I was still gazing at the ring.
"How did you get this?" I asked her.
"Donovan gave it to me, despite him being part of Viola's evil plan to I dunno, use me, he said that it was from my real past, another indication my past with Omega was unreal," she explained as I swallowed thickly.
"Scarlett, you gave this to me, as a gift," I said softly, taking her small hand into mine and pressing the ring into it.
Her lips parted, gaze flickering between my own to the ring in my hand. The way I handled it, with care and love, indicated to her that this was something precious to me. Her lips pursed together, eyebrows drawing low as she again felt overcome with emotions, confusion, frustration, anger; it all swam in the dark hues of her umber eyes.
"Shit," she breathed, her eyes narrowing as she was overwhelmed "I'm sorry I don't remember you, uh shit I don't even know your name-"
"Harry," I smiled softly, a smile filled with sadness that made her frown in sympathy. "Harry Styles," I held my hand out, making her smile slightly before taking it.
"I would say my name is Phoenix, but obviously it's not. Scarlett-"
"Jones," I chuckled. "Your name is Scarlett Jones."
"When you don't even know your own name," she joked, laughing lightly before I stood up and held my hand out for her. She took it, her warm hand slipping into mine perfectly as she stood up.
"I promise you, nobody is more livid about this than I am. Omega thinks they can do whatever they want whenever they want, but they fucking can't. I won't let them. The Organization won't let them," I said firmly, gazing deep into her eyes before I found myself moving forwards to her.
Her lips parted in surprise when my fingers rose up to touch her face, thumb lightly skimming her cheekbone. I wanted to kiss her so badly, the sight of her literally standing in front of me after thinking she was dead all this time, tempting me to my limit. But I had to hold back, until how long I didn't know, but for now I had to control myself. Her eyes were filled with pity, confusion and sympathy, feeling bad that she couldn't remember me.
"Harry, what was I to you?" she whispered in questioning, her words making me smile gently. I had a feeling she knew the answer herself, but just wanted to make sure. "A friend? A mentor? What?"
"Scarlett, you were my lover."
✖️✖️✖️
✖️ thoughts on this chapter? Does anyone feel bad for Harry like I do? 😫😫😫
✖️saying this for later on, but please don't expect Scarlett to immediately trust Harry when he says he knows her and etc. Omega has been lying to her this whole time so she's kind of conflicted and unsure of who to trust.
But y'know once it becomes more obvious that Scarlett does indeed has a past with The Organization, she trusts them and etc.
JUST GOTTA BE PATIENT Y'ALL😘
Until we meet again...
