The song Miss Jackson from Panic! At the Disco blared through the room, making the two sleeping groan in unison. A hand flew from under covers to turn off the dammed alarm, but what only seems like seconds later blared again in the dim lit room. Posters of rock bands, TV shows, and playful drawings splattered the walls with their brilliance. The book shelves where covered in books and many DVDs ready to be touched. School book were snuggly placed in the corner right by a pin-covered backpack.
“AURGH!” She threw her covers off of her body in annoyance of the stupid things noise, “I hate you with a burning passion of a thou—”
“Mackenzie; stop threatening the thing. It’s not real.” The other body mumbled, though not even fazed by her roommate’s actions. She snuggled back into her comfy warm bed from the bittering cold of November’s last testament. She had wrapped herself tightly once again in the warmth of her covers, thankful for not having morning classes.
Mackenzie, just pouted at her roommates figure, before rolling her icy blue eyes, “But it started it, Riley.” She started, annoyed that lump on the other side of the room taking the iphone’s side in this, “I don’t wanna get up.” She whined with a huff, and throwing herself back to her pillows. Of course, it wasn’t really a grown up thing to do, but she didn’t care. She was tried and staying up on Tumblr didn’t help…at all. She knew she had class soon, in thirty minutes or so. She could still make it.
The figure on the other side of the room just sighed in mock annoyance, “I will roll you out of that bed.” Riley told her sternly, not even bothering to move in her place. She knew this was the way to deal with her roommate. The only way. But it was funnier this way.
“Well, you not moving very fast,” Mackenzie told her sharply after a couple of minutes, “It seems like you’re so comfy—”
Riley shot up in her bed so fast, making her friend jump out of her own bed with a squeal. Mackenzie laughed at Riley’s death glare, before sticking her tongue out at her roommate.
She moved to get dressed as quickly as she could. Her hands moved over the drawers under her bed, finding something that would be warm enough in the cold front. She pulled the thicker royal blue long sleeve on, before hurrying to pull her faded jeans on with her worn in brown ankle boots. She combed her fingers through her shoulder length auburn hair to get rid of the knots quickly. She didn’t have much time to brush it all the way through. She made sure she had her key necklace on, before moving to Riley’s newly sleeping form. Her face broke out with a twisted grin of mischief. She tiptoed towards the lump in the bed, ready to pounce on her roomy.
Riley burst from her covers scaring her instead with a loud BOO, throwing Mackenzie off her plan.
Mackenzie screeched, her hands going to cover her pounding heart. Once that was in check, a burning glare was sent to her roommate, “That wasn’t funny, you could have given me a heart attack!” She exclaimed to the girl once seeing her gleaming eyes of accomplishment.
“But you didn’t” She told her in reassurance, “Don’t you have a class to get to, young lady?” Her eyebrow lifting at the other woman as she just stood there for a couple of seconds. Her statement brought the woman back to her mind quickly to the present, “Ohh, yeah.” The woman replied sheepishly in defeat before turning to grab her bag for class.
Don’t forget you keys!” Riley reminded her as her roomy made her way out of the door for her morning classes. She knew that Kenzie always somehow forgets something for her day. In the three years she’s known the woman, she has forgotten things ranging from keys to bags. Riley knew it wasn’t really her fault for doing such a thing, it was just something that happens from time to time. She knew that Kenzie has a lot on her mind.
