9th String - It's Illegal to Kill

Start from the beginning

He pursed his lips as he thought deeply.

Clark asked me to join him to a formal party which will be taking place in an hour. Apparently, he had just signed a contract to do a new movie a few days ago and this party was for the successful transaction.

There are three things I don't get.

First, why does he need me, out of all people, to go with him? I'm sure he can get any other girl to go with him. All he had to do was ask. I know a ton from school who will be more than willing.

Second, what kind of formal party would be held in the afternoon? Don't most parties occur at night? People could miss important classes just because of this. I know because I'm experiencing it right now. My classmates were probably learning something that would probably appear on a pop quiz which will probably be tomorrow.

And third, how is this an acceptable excuse?! Dean Roberts must have been brainwashed by Jesse.

"I got it." Clark said happily, standing up from his seat.

I gave him a questioning look, "What?"

He smiled smugly, "I'll get you a ticket to Captain America 2's advanced screening."

My jaw dropped. He was totally cheating!

"No fair! You can't use your fame like this!" I complained, standing up as well.

Clark knows how much I love Marvel and he's using it to his advantage. I hate doing things that involved his career. I already had to go through that horrible dinner interview.

"It's the reason I'm alive." he said, pinching my nose. I slapped it, as usual.

"You're only alive because it's illegal to kill." I hissed, glaring at my best friend.

He thought for a bit, "Aye. But if I weren't here, you wouldn't be who you are now." he smirked at me.

"....You're such a cockroach." I said instead, not having anything else to answer.

He was right and I hated how he basked in it. Dammit.

He stretched his arms and I swear I saw his muscles flex.

What? No! Clark couldn't have muscles! He was as skinny as a worm!

"So, how about it?" he asked, the smirk never leaving his face.

I huffed, giving in, "Fine. But I'm only doing this for Captain America." I clarified.

Clark nodded, "I know."

"Alrighty then," Jesse spoke, standing up as well, "Let's go to Kiel's."

I shook my head, "No need. I have the dress from last night at my locker."

"At your school?" Jesse asked in confusion.

"No, at mansion." I answered sarcastically while rolling my eyes, "Yes at my school."

Jesse grimaced, I only laughed. It felt good to be rude.

~~

It had only been an hour since Jesse picked me up so it meant that only one period had passed.

But I still had to run to my locker for the dress because Clark told me to hurry up. The party was starting soon.

Once I got what I needed, I walked back to the parking lot. I didn't need to hurry. I already ran here so I didn't need to run back out. It would just wear me out.

I was about to turn the corner of the hallway when someone bumped into me.

I managed to balance myself so I didn't fall, but I felt sorry for the person I bumped into. He dropped his things. I muttered an apology before continuing my way towards the parking lot, not bothering to help him with his things.

People really needed to watch where they were going.

"Hey! Wait up!" a voice called from behind me, I turned around automatically.

I was the only person here so who else would be called?

To my surprise, it was the guy I bumped into. He was in front of me in a flash.

It was weird having to make eye contact with someone I've never met but it was just his eyes. They were so blue.

"I dropped something." he told me, his eyes twinkling.

I raised an eyebrow at him. He may have fascinating eyes but his statement was obviously flirting. Beautiful eyes wasted on a twat.

I shrugged, "Oh? What would that be?" I asked, playing along to whatever his game was.

He smiled, "My heart. And it seems as though you've picked it up."

I gave him a look of incredulity. Was this guy for real? I see. He was a smooth-talker. I knew it. He's probably a player. The worst of them all. More worse than Jesse. You could practically see it radiating off of him.

"I threw it away. It was of no importance to me." I deadpanned.

Instead of being taken aback like I had expected him to be, his smile widened.

"Then I guess it's rubbish to you."

I nodded, "Pretty much." Where was he going with this? Weird lad.

He mocked hurt, "That hurt. Really. It stings." he placed a finger on his chest which he drew back immediately after contact. Like the reaction you get when you touch fire, "Ow...”

I rolled my eyes. Funny bloke, isn’t he?

"Are you done flirting with me?" I questioned impatiently, tapping my right foot. I needed to leave or else Jesse will blow a gasket. Ugh. The happiness of being friends with aliens.

He smiled once more.

I stared at him intently for the first time. His eyes caught my attention not just because they stand out but because there's something else. I couldn't quite point it out just yet.

"Getting lost in my eyes?" he smirked, and my eyes widened in recognition.

"You!" I pointed an accusing finger at him. He looked surprised, just like how I first saw him, "You're one of the dicks who cut in front of me at the cinema!"

He furrowed his eyebrows, processing my words before his eyes widened as well. He only remembers me now? Was I not memorable? "That was you?" he narrowed his eyes at me.

"No. It was my grandma--" I began sarcastically, "of course it was me you inconsiderate monkey!"

He shrugged, "Hey, you deserved it anyway. Your hand weighed like a thousand pounds. My brain felt like it had been juggled inside my skull."

"Is that why you’re such a stupid hyena?"

"Please stop with the empty insults. You sound like a child."

"I'll do whatever I want, you dodo bird."

"That doesn't make any sense!"

"To you, it doesn't! Because you’re too stupid to understand it!"

"Don't call me stupid! You don’t know me!"

"Exactly why you're stupid. I don't know you but you still hit on me."

"It’s because I like you."

"Too bad huh? I don't like you. Take a hint, will ya, mate."

"Fine, I'll take a hint."

"Good."

"If you go out with me."

"Alright I-" I stopped myself and stared at him, "What did you say?"

"You can’t take that back. You already said yes." he grinned cheekily, "On Friday then. After school."

With that, he walked away without waiting for my answer and my jaw dropped. I just agreed without thinking.

That dog! He used distraction on me! That bastard! That self-absorbed brute!

Ugh. Now who's stupid?
