Standing in the corner, listening to the multiple screams. They sounded like much horror to me, yet one I longed for. I had dreamed of having a relationship, maybe a marriage, kids.
My last walk was a young woman of the name Sandra Wolock, she had the life of my wildest dreams. Yet died by the age of 45, I don't know why fate does this to people but it's my job to take them. A wonderful woman, small yet a big personality. Sandra had 4 kids by the time she was 32, a Marriage that lasted till the day she died.
Finally, I heard the wail. A baby's cry.
There is my new walk, it's a boy. The nurse approached the young mother a clipboard in hand, "what's his name?", she questioned. The petite woman smiled and looked at the newborn in her arms, "Doug, Doug Dee."
Walking in the shadows behind mom, up the stairs; she began to sense me. She flipped around once she reached the top and brushed it off.
Laying her little boy in the crib she sang to him, "Cats in the cradle and the silver spoon", his big grey eyes looking up at her, "little boy blue and the man on the moon". Slowly Doug began to close his eyes and drift into a peaceful slumber.
The woman slowly and softly closed the doer to his nursery and walked to her own room. Leaning against the wall in a shadow hiding me from the eyes of the humans I watched, I watched for danger & potential evils.
The hail hitting the window in rage, force growing with each second. A crack began to spread across the glass. I quickly lunged for the crib and pulled the quilt above Dougs little baby head protecting him. He stirred in his sleep. I leaned back against the wall and the glass gave way. Shard's flying across the room some. The frigid winter air came flooding into the small apartment room along with snow and hail.
Mrs. Dee came in frantically scooping up Doug into her arms. As she was distracted by the crying, I pushed glass to the side with my foot creating a clear path. Running into the small kitchen she began to heat up a bottle for the newborn. Cradling him while he simmered into a calm state she settled into her chair in the kitchen dining room.
"I'll love you forever, I'll love you for always. As long as I'm living my baby you'll be." She cooed to her son. A feeling of jealousy rolled over me. "One day I'll have someone love me." A thought ran across my mind.
