A sigh escaped my lips as I carefully placed the photo frame containing a baby picture of Scarlett and her father back into the cardboard box. I was doing some sort of spring cleaning, even though it wasn't spring, pulling out different storage boxes and clearing stuff out. I was reluctant to clean out the boxes that contained Scarlett's belongings, mainly because I didn't want to travel down memory lane again. But once I did the first box, the other ones weren't as bad.
I exhaled tiredly as I reached into the last box, fingers feeling around a book before picking it up. Scarlett's journal. My throat tightened at the sight of it, before I tossed it onto the bed behind my back and resumed cleaning out the box. The journal soon slipped out of my mind when I shut the box and lifted it up, grunting as I stretched my legs from my sitting position that I had been in an hour or so. Once I placed it back in its rightful place I returned to my room, my eyes landed on the journal that had landed open.
My breath hitched in my throat when my eyes examined the oil pastel drawing that covered it. Both pages were completely black, as if she colored in the dull ivory with a raven black color. As my fingertips touched the page on the right, I felt myself getting overwhelmed with emotions. In white, Scarlett had drawn two wispy figures kissing. The girl looked exactly like Scarlett, the man just like me. It was a simple drawing, yet the small details drawn in white made the whole thing look incredible.

Even though I really wanted to, I just knew it wasn't right of me to go through her journal without her permission. But I was just so curious. I was curious to see what other wonderful drawings of us or me she had in there, and also to see if she wrote about me. But I respected her privacy, even if she wasn't there. I sighed quietly, before closing the book and placing it on the bedside table as I was too lazy to put it back into the box.
Around 11 am I received a text from Jade just as I got out of the shower, informing me of an urgent meeting that Valkyrie needed to attend. I hurriedly slid my boxers up my thighs, going for basketball shorts and a black t-shirt, along with trainers as I was planning to do some boxing after the meeting. I met up with Damien along the way and we both headed to the conference room. As we stayed seated waiting for Vlad and Max to arrive, I began asking the people next to me what on earth was this urgent meeting about.
"You're all on time. Good," Vlad observed as he walked in with Max trailing behind him.
"What's the urgent news?" Jade immediately questioned, a hint of excitement flickering in her eyes.
Lately there hasn't been any trouble going around, except for the usual gangs having feuds and etc., nothing big like what we had with Black Arrow had been going on. All of us were somewhat hungry to get some action again. We were assassins after all, killing people wasn't something we all particularly liked doing, but after doing it for so long and then stopping, we kind of missed it. Yes, we were deranged.
Vlad didn't answer Jade's question, instead placing is palm onto the table, causing it to illuminate. The lights in the room dimmed as the blue color of the table brightened our faces. Vlad continued to tap on a few things, before opening a folder. The folder threw out different videos and pictures of what seemed confusing at first, but then began to become clearer to us all. The videos and picture floated around on the table, showcasing attacks on different buildings, a team of five people all wearing black from head to toe terrorizing individuals.
