Prologue

Author's Notes: My first ever attempt to create a story on Wattpad. There might be some grammar mistakes here and there but I hope you will still enjoy it! My Inspiration is from Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. The rest? Figure it out yourselves. RANDOM.

(Flashback)

Year 2094, April 27 – Inside an almost destroyed mansion

"hah, hah, hah" a young boy was breathing heavily and running as fast as he could while pulling a little girl's hand. He was navigating through maze-like hallways skillfully. He looked behind and saw two more assassins joining the chase along with the previous three.

Rocks and boulders that seemed to be remains of the almost destroyed mansion were scattered everywhere around the hallways. It felt like the mansion would crumble to pieces at any moment. The young boy tried to quickly escape the mansion but there was no way for a pair of six years old to outrun five adult assassins.

The distance between the assassins and the two children was rapidly becoming shorter. The boy turned a sharp corner while desperately pulling the little girl in hope to lose sight of his predators. It was a brilliant idea, until a huge rock dropped from the ceiling and blocked the passage.

Luckily, the boy noticed a small hole inside the rock that could fit a small child. "Quick! Get through that hole!" the boy said to the girl as he pointed his index finger at the small hole.

However, the boy knew that there was not enough time for him to escape as well. The assassins would find them any time soon. In this instant, the young boy gritted his teeth before making a decision where there was no turning back.

The young boy looked at the small girl and said "Mayumi, go through that hole quickly. If you go straight you should be able to reach the main entrance and meet okaa-sama and otou-sama. Nii-san has some business to attend to." As he smiled before running towards the opposite direction in hope to find another exit.

"Brother!" the small girl yelled loudly as she tried to accept reality. She closed her eyes before going through the hole as her brother had instructed her. She went straight towards a shallow light that seemed to be getting bigger the farther she walked. When she reached the light, it was so bright that she was unable to open her eyes for a few seconds.

At this moment, she felt warmness surrounding her whole body as she wondered what it was. It was until a few minutes later that she realized her parents were hugging her tightly with a relieved expression. "Oh! Mayumi! We were so worried!" her mother exclaimed. Mayumi never felt happier than she currently was until her father asked her a question that she wished he had never asked. "Mayumi, where is Tatsuya?" with a worried expression.

Mayumi froze; tears began to unconsciously fall down on her beautiful face. Her parents took her reaction for granted and hugged her even tighter. "Mayumi, forget about all of this, forget this had ever happened, forget...about your brother." her mother said as she placed her hand on Mayumi's forehead. She suddenly felt dizzy and her vision slowly faded before shortly falling asleep. Her parents carried her into a police car and were taken away from the crime scene for interrogation purposes. Meanwhile...

"Brother!" a loud yell echoed throughout the hallways and was able to be heard clearly by Tatsuya. He ran towards the opposite direction and turned at a sharp corner before stopping for a few seconds. "This...is for the best, right?" he questioned himself before continuing on. He had purposely turned that corner in order to draw the assassin's attention as they were blocking the back exit. Just as he had calculated, one of the assassins managed to notice and said something to his accomplice before giving chase yet again. Tatsuya smiled. Everything was going according to plan.
