Walking out of the diner we all wave goodbye,
in the car me and Alaric let out a breath that I guess we were holding
"That wasn't awkward" I say with sarcasm
I look over at Alaric thinking about what he said that he used to be a teacher "So you were a teacher?" I ask
"Yes" he says
"Did you like it?"
"Yes" really Alaric?
"Where did you teach at?"
"Here"
"When did you quit?"
He sighs I don't think he's going to answer but he surprises me "after my parents died"
I'm shocked he actually open up to me "I'm sorry. How did they die if you don't mind me asking" I look over to see his knuckles tightening on the steering wheel
I think I upset him
"Vampires"
"What?" I ask
"A vampire killed them"
No wonder he hates me or hates my kind
"Was it Ezra?" I don't know why I ask that
"No but that's how I met Ezra after my parents died I became obsessed with hunting the vampire that killed them and I finally found a vampire Ezra and he made a deal with me he would find the vampire that killed them and I would owe him a favor. He told me who the vampire was and I killed him and then Ezra called telling me the favor I owed him he was ready to collect on it. The favor was to pretend to be your uncle and you to live with me for awhile"
I couldn't believe he told me all that just as I'm about to say something then I notice we are already in our driveway and he's out of the car already opening the front door I jump out of the car and run to him I grab him and hug Him and I start crying "I'm so sorry Alaric no wonder you hate me" I say while crying
He grabs my face with his hands "hey I don't hate you okay" he says softly
"I would never hurt you"
"I know that" he smiles at me
"Even though your not my real uncle your the only family I have"
"We can be each other's family" i look at him to see if he just saying that to make me feel better but the look in his eyes you could tell he meant it
I smiled and hug him tighter and he actually hugged me back
"You better go to bed you have school tomorrow" he says
"Okay goodnight"
