"Max, are you ready for school tomorrow?" My mum calls up the stairs. My mum is usually the most laid back, calm, and generally chill person I've ever come across, but, (and there's always a but,) she is never, ever relaxed about first days back to school.
"Almost mum, I've just got to back my bag!" I call back to her. It's complete lies, but it keeps her quiet. Tomorrow is my first day back to school, and my last year before uni. I'm in year 13, so the last year of A level. It's blooming terrifying, but super exciting at the same time. It sort of feels like a weird concoction of fear, dread and terror mixed with hope and anticipation. Odd.
I don't really like to talk about myself, I feel like I'm giving too much away. I much prefer getting people to talk about themselves- it's easy as well. People love to talk about themselves, and it's surprising how much you can learn from a person talking. This is one of the few advantages of being a quite one; I know things. Lots of things, just by listening, and asking a question every now and then. Ha. I may not be outgoing, or popular, but I have intelligence and perception, something not blessed to many.
"Max! Is your bag packed?" My mum shouts, worry coating her voice. To put her mind at rest I call down that I'm completely ready and prepared for tomorrow. Again, total lies. I sigh, and grab my back pack, unzipping it. I quickly stuff my pencil case in, followed by a couple of notebooks, and my black note pad. Making sure everything is in place I zip the grey bag up, and dump it in front of my door so there's no possible way I can forget it. Hastily I set my alarm, call down a quick goodnight to my parents and flop on my bed. I am not looking forward to tomorrow. I sigh, and prepare to face the land of dreams.
