I shake my head and smile nonetheless. We act like a couple, but truth is, we're just best friends. And we'll be damned if we can't hug and hold hands as best friends. Just then, I realized Serena wasn't with us anymore.

"Where's Serena?" I asked, looking up into Adrian's eyes.

His expression changed and became cold and hard, "She left with Axel." Oh.

"You know, you never told me what went down between you and Axel that makes you hate him," I said softly, wishing he'd tell me. He always deviates from the subject when I bring it up.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, making him look extremely attractive, "You'll find out in time."

"Hey Adri!" Dad chirped happily as I entered our house. Oh hell no, he's way too happy.

"Dad, what goes on?"

"I've got some great news," he replied and he looked really ecstatic.

Oh man, please don't tell me he got a girlfriend. Ever since I was fifteen, it's just been my father and I; mom had died. It hit us pretty hard, I can't lie. I mean, even to this day it's like it happened yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I want dad to be happy, but here we are two years later after her death, we're okay and content with what we have. And dad is a CEO, so he's never really home and I don't want to be left alone with some woman that could never be my mother.

"Aren't you excited?" Dad's voice takes me out of my thoughts.

What? "Huh?" I asked, shaking my head to get rid of all my thoughts.

He sent a teasing flat look and said, "We're moving!"

"What?"

"I got an offering in Florida and I couldn't turn it down."

"So we're leaving Cali?"

"Yes, sweetheart, I'm very sorry."

"No! Don't be! I'm actually very excited! Remember I've always wanted to go to college or to a university there for forensics. They have some amazing programs there!"

Dad looked relieved and joyous, "Of course, sweetheart. You're going to be the best at investigating those crime scenes. Are you dealing with live brains? Or is it dead brains?"

I shake my head and smile at his teasing. Since I was young, I've wanted to study forensics. Dad's always supported me and we see eye to eye on things.

"When do we leave?" I asked lightly.

"May 25th."

"What?! That's ten days from now!" I exclaimed.

"I'm sorry for the short notice. I really am, but I was only notified today."

"That's the day right after graduation and the award ceremony," I state quietly.

"I know and I'm really sorry," dad stated.

"It's okay. Really dad, it is. I'm going to head up now though and finish up homework. Oh, Carson wants me to work from 8-9 because Van is out."

"Okay, that's fine. Just tell me when you head out."

"Sure. Oh! At five, Adrian's coming and we're both heading to Cali's Institute of Photography to work on the latest photography project."

"The professor is a serious bitch. I don't know how you handle it, Adri," he said and chuckled.

"Aye, it's all good," I laughed and headed to my room.
