"Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it, " I chanted as my grandmother, Lilian, or also affectionately known as Grams, neared me.
"Oh my god, look how my darling has grown and oh those cheeks, plum as ever."
(Did that sound creepy to you too?)
"Oh let me pull them."
No.
I loved Grams and what not, but you did not want that lady near your cheeks. She would hurt you and I meant Liam Neesan style.
(No I was not kidding.)
Looking for an escape, I turned to where mum was, hoping for some help, but she herself was trying to escape grandma.
Oh no you don't. I will not suffer alone.
"Mum where are you going? Come here. Grams hasn't it been so long since you saw mum?" I asked dodging Grams.
As if on a command, Grams rushed towards her daughter in law as if she hadn't seen her in years, when it reality it had only been a month tops.
My mother gave me a glare that can make you shit your pants, that is, if you were not me.
But all I did in response, was flash my most innocent smile and make my way to the kitchen.
Smell of chocolate chip cookies filled my nose and I instantly remembered why I loved coming here.
Chocolate chip cookies are the best thing to happen to this world and my grandma just happens to make the best ones out there.
(Don't fight me on it.)
"You are gonna become a cookie one day," I heard my brother Albert sing as he entered the kitchen.
As if chastising my eating habits was not enough, he then attempted to take away my cookies, only to get his hand swatted away.
Violet didn't share her food. Period.
"As if you are any better," I replied, continuing munching on one.
He lifted his shirt (his favourite hobby) showing off his well defined abs "I think I am good."
"I think I just lost my appetite," I scoffed, but still took away half the cookies to go sit in the living room with Grams, mum and dad.
My grandfather had passed away 3 years ago and even as we insisted that Grams move in with us, but she refused, saying the house held too many memories to let go.
As I sat there gorging on my cookies, Grams turned to me to start a conversation.
"So school started last week right Violet?"
"Yeah. Almost done with it. 6 more months."
"Oh, I remember my high school. We use to have so many parties," Grams reminisced.
"You still party a lot grams," Albert reminded her, and well he wasn't wrong.
Grams was known for throwing crazy parties. Be it her birthday or halloween. This woman even found a way to celebrate her having a second hip surgery. And she is 78. She is like a high school kid trapped in a old body.
"Yeah yeah. Don't you have any back to school parties Violet?" Grams asked me, brushing Albert off.
"There is one next weekend, but I don't know if I want to go. High school parties are gross."
At this both Albert and Grams gasped.
(My family was a bit dramatic.)
"You still have to go. Your friends won't let you stay," Mom reminded me and it felt like a plan to take revenge. Only my mother would send me to a party as a revenge.
"I guess so. I can fake an illness though."
"Violet you are not going to miss that party. High school parties are so important. I remember mine. Going out all dolled up , dancing and "
Before Grams could finish her sentence, Dad cleared his throats to stop her. We all knew what that was leading to anyways.
"You know. I should throw a party. Invite all my friends. We can all act like its our back to school party. I should call Susan."
After this, Grams started planning her own party as Dad tried to stop her but lets face it, it wasn't happening.
My mother didn't do much seeing as she enjoyed these parties and Albert again tried to steel my cookies.
This weird family was the reason for my own weirdness, I swear.

Heyo!
So this is a new story that I had written a long time back.
The updates will be frequent ( like every other day.) It will be unedited and there can be lots of mistakes.
Now I know there isn't anything by which you can know what happens, but the thing is, if you did then you would know the whole story. So be patient.
As for this chapter, its a glimpse into the main character's life.
This is a really light hearted and funny story, which I hope you will enjoy.
Have fun. Love to all.
