8th String - It's Hard Being In Love With Your Best Friend

Start from the beginning

Now I'm all confused.

"You're probably wondering how I'm still gay when I already told you I wasn't." he spoke up, catching my attention.

And he can read minds? The dude has everything.

I nodded and he chuckled, "I’m straight, I assure you."

I frowned, "But why...?" I trailed off, thinking back on his previous actions.

"I thought Jesse was with you."

"What does that have to do with anything?" I questioned, still quite confused.

"He thinks I'm gay. Actually, they all do." he laughed, as if it was one big joke and he found it completely hilarious.

It didn't make any sense. I'm sure if I was a guy as good-looking as him and people confuse me for being gay, I'd ask them not so politely to take a long walk off a short pier.

"Don't you get offended?"

He handed me a dress, "Not really. It helps." he smiled evilly.

"It helps?"

He nodded before meeting my eyes. He smirked, "My man needs."

Blood rushed up to my face once I realised what he was talking about.

He was pretending to be gay for that?

I was about to say something very condescendingly when he started laughing in hysterical fits.

I raised an eyebrow at him, "Your reaction was priceless!" he choked out in-between laughs.

It was then that I realised he was only making fun of me.

I rolled my eyes. How come it has only been fifteen minutes, and this guy can act like we've known each other for years? Odd one.

"How old are you?" I asked him once he regained his composure.

He pursed his lips at me, "Just because I'm not gay, doesn't mean I would go out with teenagers."

I gave him a look of incredulity, "I'm not asking you out." I defended, crossing my arms. I snorted, "Please."

He looked at me, a calculating look in his eyes, "Although you are quite beautiful. I can see why he likes you."

"'He'? Who's 'he'?"

He smiled, "Try that on. The changing rooms are on the right. I'll bring you some more in a while."

Though I wanted to protest and ask him what he was talking about, I just followed his instructions and made a beeline for the changing rooms.

I held the dress up and looked at it for the first time.

It was jade green mixed with midnight blue. I never thought that these two colours could complement each other so well.

I quickly changed into it. It was an easy task since it was a simple dress and the only zipper was on the side.

It reached just above my knees. It had a few ribbons but that’s it. No ruffles, no glitters. It was a simple dress that fell flat and fit perfectly. It also shines in the light.

Negative thoughts never circled my mind as I put on the dress. I'm very confident in my looks. I know I'm not the ugliest girl in the world but I don't exactly embrace it.

"Have you got it?" Kiel's voice asked from the other side of the curtain.

"Got it!" I responded. I took one more look in the mirror to check if I did everything right. I wouldn't want a guy correcting me. It would be weird. Especially if we were all alone in his shop. Kiel seems like a nice guy but you can never be too sure.
