Eyes bound.

Mouth sewn shut.

Wings Tied.

Freedom Gone.

This was your fault. That's what they said, or that's what you told yourself. You weren't sure.

How long had you been like this? Decades.

When would they let you go? Never.

You had sinned. Lusted for something forever forbidden.

This was the price. Was it worth it? You couldn't say.

Your crime was not an act, but a thought.

You shifted so that the shackles around your wrists were no longer cutting into the same spot that they had been for however long.

All this for a thought.

A fleeting moment in which your eyes met those of a being whose existence was thought a stain. What came upon you? Sin.

The fleeting moment brought this upon you.

Even thoughts, no matter how small, begot punishment.

You learned. You were still learning.

You didn't remember the face, nor the thought - the sin. Yet here you were. So was it worth it? No.
