Lauren has been in the hospital going on three months now waiting for a new heart. The one she currently has is faulty and soon going to give out on her. The donor list was bringing her up farther each day but not fast enough. She didn't qualify to go as high up on the list as she needed to go so she has to settle and wait. Jack has been there every step of the way of her health problems. He was the one who brought her to the E.R during the first attack and he was the one who held her hand when given the news. He was the one who visited everyday, doing his homework while she talked about her adventures messing with the nurses. He spent the majority of his last three months in that very hospital room. He was her rock, what was keeping her going, keeping her hoping. He gave her light in the darkness she was experiencing. They laid together in the hospital room watching ridiculousness on MTV while eating cookies he had made for a cooking class he was forced to take at school. They were actually really good. His arm across her torso with their opposing hands intertwined.
"Baby what if they don't get me a heart."
"They will don't worry."
"But if they don't. I have had a lot of time to think here and I don't think I will get one in time and if that happens I want my funeral planned perfectly."
"I don't want to talk about you dying."
"Look I want to be prepared so just listen to me and promise if I do die that you follow these plans."
"Ok."
"I want a black coffin it just seems appropriate. I want to use that picture of us at the Eiffel Tower when you took me for my birthday. I want you to deliver the eulogy and I want the irks to sing. They're really good. I also want to give all of my money to heart transplant foundation."
"Baby you still live with your parents you have no money. We're still in school remember." She glares at him which makes him chuckle.
"Ok those are my only wishes everything else is up to you guys. Oh wait one more thing. Nobody can be sad. I don't want anyone to be sad because I've moved on to greater things, greater places. An eternal light in the sky."
"Beautiful. I like those ideas I might steal them for my own funeral."
"Well you won't be dying for a very long time."
"Yeah well neither will you." She looks up at him and smiles. He runs his thumb along the line of her jaw reaching her chin and moving it to her bottom lip. He admires every inch and every crevice of her face including her eyes. The most important feature on her body. The only one that always stays the same way no matter how old you get. If you fall for the eyes then you fall forever. He was lucky enough to fall for her eyes and her everything else. He was lucky to fall for her.

----------
"Baby look it did not mean anything! I was stupid and I made a stupid decision and went to that party. She kissed me!" He tries to explain the picture on Lauren's phone that she was crying over.
"You let her Jack! What is it? Is it because I'm dying? Because I'm sick?" She asks tears rushing down her face. He kneeled beside her bed holding her hand in his.
"No no no of course not baby I love you and I never meant to hurt you. It doesn't matter that you are sick or in here or waiting? You're a fighter and I admire that. You mean the world to me. I love you and only you."
"Prove it. Show me that your heart completely belongs to me and only me. Until then get the fuck out of my hospital room." He nodded feeling she pull her hand away still crying. He made his way out of the room and to the elevator. He got into the empty elevator and pressed the lobby button. He punched the wall feeling angry at himself for what he did. He was now crying. His salty tears flowing down his face finding their way into the crease of his mouth. He found his way through the lobby out to the back of the hospital in a secluded area. He threw stuff around angry for going to that party, angry for letting that girl kiss him, angry that Lauren found out. He broke her heart a heart that physically is already broken. A heart that he holds so dear to him.

-------------
Lauren tapped her fingers upset as her friends all told her it was going to be ok. They understood what she was going through but then her chest began to hurt and her eyes closed mid sentence. She blacked out.
"Nurse! Help!" Camila screamed at the top of her lungs as Dinah repeatedly pressed the call nurse button. The loud beep sound coming from the monitor near Lauren's bed fast and quick. Nurses and doctors rushed in and took some readings before sweeping her away. Her parents had only gone down to the cafateria for some food. As they returned not seeing their daughter they ran frantically around trying to get an update. Normani knew she probably shouldn't but he needed to know.
"Hello?" His voice said deep sniffling.
"Jack it's Lauren."
"What happened?"
"She stopped breathing."
"I'm coming." He hung up the phone and within minutes arrived at the hospital his eyes red and puffy with a special little gift in his pocket. A gift that would decide its destination by what the doctor told them.
"Lauren Jauregui?" The surgeon calls before finding her parents.
"I'm sorry we need a doner or its over. She's held on longer than I've seen anyone else fight. She has made it months longer than we predicted for her but she needs a new heart now." Those last three words echoed in Jacks mind. New heart now. New heart now.
They haunted him. He stood up swiftly walking down the corridor. He traveled debating whether it was a good idea or not. He slipped into an empty room. He pulled out two letters, a slip of paper that held the future and a silver handgun. He laid down the letters beside him and the slip safely clutched in his hand. He let the tears out pointing the gun straight at his head. He held it there.
"I really love you baby." He places his finger on the trigger pulling it letting the shot ring out as the bullet entered his skull and into his brain. His cognition immediately shutoff.

The entire hospital froze. The Jaureguis and the girls all in relation to Lauren looked at one another realization coming across their faces. Doctors ran as did the entire Jauregui family, the girls included. They reached the room the sound came from seeing what they had already thought and happened. There laid Jack a bullet in his skull and a gun in his hand as he blood from the wound dropped pooling on the floor below. They all covered their mouths in horror as the surgeon entered the room his eyes slightly brimmed with tears having known Jack so well over the course of Lauren's stay there. He noticed the white slip in Jacks hand and opened the boys palm. He read it and his eyes became red as he held back the tears. He turned to everyone else.
"It's a direct donation to Lauren. She has a heart." This was both happy and sad news to everyone in the room. Jack was dead and Lauren wasn't going to be.

-----------
Lauren exited surgery not understanding what had happened until she felt the staples in her chest and she realized she had a new heart. She smiled happily and her family entered.
"I got a new heart."
"You did baby." Her father says smiling back slightly at his child.
"Well technically you got two." The doctor adds.
"They put the new one on top of the old one so it could teach yours how to beat. You have two hearts in you."
"Where's Jack? I have to tell him. I know we aren't on the best terms but he needs to know."
"Honey..." Her mother starts.
"What?" She looks at their sullen faces.
"Here he left this." Her dad hands her the letter.
"So he was here? Wow I think this new heart means a new chance and everyone deserves a second chance. Even cheaters. It wasn't his fault that girl stuck her tongue down his throat. I think I'm going to forgive him."
"Lauren open the letter!" Camila snaps having been friends with Jack fro years even before he met Lauren.
Dear Lauren,
I know I fucked up. I know you may never forgive me. I'm sorry. I love you more than anything in the world. I always have ever since I laid eyes on you. You stole my breath away in hat moment. Not only that you stole my heart. I love everything about you. Your smile, your laugh, your passion and drive. You are a strong woman and it's inspiring. My favorite thing about is your eyes. A wise man once told me that if you fall for the eyes you fall forever. Because a person changes and evolves. They grow old, their faces changes but the eyes never do. They never change. I fell in love with your eyes and I don't regret it one bit. You are my everything and you will do success great things one day. You will change the world. I know what I did was horrible and I told you I didn't mean it but I do take responsibility. I am so sorry that hurt you and I am so sorry that I kept it from you. Especially during this time when you needed someone and needed to be stress free. I hope I did that for you for every moment before I broke your heart that was already physically shattered. I am so sorry. You told me to show you that my heart completely belongs to you and only you and that's what I have done. One last final romantic gesture before I say goodbye. I had two hearts and now they both belong to you. I love you princess. The love of my life. Goodbye. Forever.
-Jack
Her eyes watered as realization set in.
"No, no he can't...he didn't....he wouldn't. No no no! Not like this! No my baby! No!" She cried out as everyone in the room began to cry as well."
"I'm sorry. No I don't want to live with him gone. I didn't want this! I'm so sorry baby! I'm so sorry come back to me!" She screams out for him to come back and cries harder knowing she's the reason. Once she calmed down. She spoke one final sentence before she needed to sleep.
"He just wanted me happy."
I had two hearts and now they both belong to you. A sentence that haunts her everyday. A shadow over her but not a bad shadow a good shadow. They call him her guardian angel. She calls him Jack. They gave her a new heart. Now she has two hearts. Two heartbeats forever. Now their hearts beat as one
