Hayden continued to tell them about what they had talked about and what Shawn had shown her. They all were shocked at the new information. Werewolves had not been in Aberdeen since the council had been formed. If they truly were coming back then something needed to be done. Jackson was not sure why they had targeted their family specifically, but he was going to find out. He made plans to go to the council and see if any of this new information was true. Since they were not sure if they could trust the council only Jackson would be going. If it did turn out to be trap then he did not want anyone else getting caught in it.
They agreed to speak with Shawn before Jackson left to see if they could get an idea of what Jackson would be walking into when he went to see the council. After that the only thing left to do was wait. They all decided to go back to bed and then meet with Shawn in the morning after breakfast.
The breakfast table was quiet as they ate in silence. When they all had finished Hayden told them that she would meet Shawn and then bring him back to the house. She didn't want there to be any misunderstandings and for someone to get hurt. It took some convincing from her parents to let her go alone, but she explained to them that if he had wanted to hurt her he could have already done it.
Hayden walked quickly towards the spot where they had spoken. The air was cool, but it still had no effect on Hayden. The leaves crunched under foot as she approached. Shawn was casually leaning against a tree when Hayden arrived. She was surprised that he did not pop out at her like their other meetings. Hayden didn't waste any time telling him what her family had decided, "They decided to speak with you before my father goes to talk with the council." He smiled and started walking back the way Hayden had come. She followed him as they weaved through the trees. Hayden wanted to talk with him about what her grandmother had said about imprinting on him, but she didn't think it was the right time so they walked in silence.
The walk back to the house felt like it took twice as long as it had taken Hayden on the way to meet Shawn. They ascended the steps together and Hayden opened the door with Shawn following behind her. Once again her family was waiting for her in the entry hall. Surprisingly to Hayden, her grandmother was the first to greet him in response. Camille followed her lead and the rest stared Shawn down without saying a word.
Stella offered him a seat in the living room, but he declined and told her that this would not take long. He explained what his coven was told to do and the situation that had been presented to them after the elder had his vision. Their help was required because of their unique ties to both communities. Their children were also thought to have extraordinary powers because they were hybrids. Shawn smiled at Hayden like he knew something that she didn't. She made a mental note to ask him about it when they were alone.
After he had explained everything and had answered their questions Jackson asked him to wait outside while they discussed all of the new information. Shawn obliged and went to sit on the front steps. Camille and Jackson discussed how it looked like the Aberdeen coven really did need their help, but they decided to play it safe and still only send Jackson to the council. His flight would leave in a few hours.
Hayden excused herself and went to see Shawn. She extended an offer to take a walk because of the hearing abilities of everyone in the house. They found a path in the woods and started on it. She didn't know what to say to him. He had basically told her that in his head they were already dating and her grandmother had told her that they were soulmates. However, in Hayden's head he was just a cute boy who she had just met. It was strange to her to have feelings for him already, but at the same time it felt natural. Almost like she had always had these feelings for Shawn.
Shawn noticed that Hayden was lost in thought and decided to break the silence, "So have you thought about what I said? About us?" When Hayden didn't answer he added more, "I know it sounds weird, but you will eventually understand and even be comfortable around me, eventually. I want you to get there on your own though. I don't want to tell you how you should feel." Hayden thought about what he said and then about how she felt. She realized that she was already there. She knew nothing about him, yet she loved him. The thought shocked her, but she knew it was true. She was not about to tell him that though.
