Maddie's POV-

A year had passed after the incident and I sat at my desk, playing with a piece of metal I had acquired long ago. My eyes darted in front of me, on the darkness that surrounded me. Turning my head, I heard the giant metal door unlock and open. From the sound of it, five men dragged another man in.

I stood up in confusion as I heard them place the body on the bed next to me. One of the guards spoke to me in Arabic.

"This man was just caught in a bomb. He needs help. Shrapnel, in his heart. Get it out," he demanded and I nodded.

"If I'm going to help you," I said in Arabic. "I'm going to need help of my own."

"What do you need?"

I told him I needed at least seven guys to help me. Professional or not: I needed them. Then I needed tools. And lastly, I needed that man to be my eyes.

The surgery went well, though I wish we had had some sleeping medicine. The poor man felt everything we did to him.

"You see the shrapnel," I asked at a distance?

"Ya," a man said.

"Use the tweezers and pull it out," I heard a disgusting noise and a grunt from the man. "Careful."

They had gotten most of it out and what they didn't get out, I had to clean up. I designed an electro magnet to stick in his chest in which it would keep the shrapnel from entering his heart. Hooked to a car battery to keep it alive.

Third Person POV-

Tony Stark had been caught in the line of fire. In a bomb that he designed. He was brought in for medical attention immediately by the terrorists. He didn't remember much, just a pain in his chest.

When he awoke, he was scared and surprised he was even alive. He lay on a bed and gasped for air. He looked to his left and saw a small pitcher and cup of water on the side stool.

He reached for it but it dropped to the ground making a rather loud noise. He reached again and felt a yank.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a young girl's voice called from a far. He looked to his right to see a car battery. He panicked and followed the line attached to it. It led to him to his wrapped up chest and he torn it open in panic. There a giant magnet was attached to his chest. Fear arose. Panic erupted. All hope was gone.

Tony sat up on the bed and looked down at his chest again. He glanced up for a split second to see a young girl emerge from the dark shadows.

Maddie reached the stool where the pitcher was and knelt down. Her hand touched the cold floor and felt for the cup Tony had dropped. When she found it, she stood back up and refilled it with water. She outstretched her arm and held the water out for Tony.

"Water?" Tony slapped the cup out of her hand and Maddie flinched something awful.

"No I don't want water!" She sighed and walked over to where she heard it land. She knelt down and searched for it once again. "I'm sorry kid."

"It's not your fault," she said standing up again.

"What did you do to me?"

"Me? Nothing. Or do you mean the fact that whatever I did: I saved your life.

"Well, you obviously know what this is." Maddie smiled at him and said:

"You had shrapnel in your heart. It was killing you. All I did was take most of it out. Want to see?"

She turned and grabbed a small glass bottle. Holding it up to see the little pieces inside. Maddie shook it, making a clinking noise.

"A souvenir. My parents had many experiences with this in our village. They call it the uh- walking dead. Mostly because it only takes a week for the shrapnel to enter any vital organs."

"What is this," Tony asked. Maddie leaned against the desk.

"That is an electro magnet," she said pointing to him. "Hooked to a car battery. This is keeping the shrapnel from entering your heart. In other words: It's keeping you alive." Maddie could sense Tony looking at her until she found him turning his gaze to the cameras.

"Thats right, smile," she teased with her own smile on her face.

"How old are you kid?"

"Oh, about eight I think," she said.

"And how come your so smart," he asked next.

She smiled," Both my parents where doctors. My father also part time engineer. They taught me all I know. That was before there death over a year ago."

"How long have you been here?"

"Three years."

"Three years?!?"

"Yeah," she said with a shrug.

"Where are we?"

"You ask a lot of questions, Mr Stark," she smiled.

"How do you know me?" But before she could answer, the door started to open. Maddie's head snapped in its direction and she stood up.

Raced over to Tony, running into the bed on accident. "Stand up," she ordered. He did immediately. "You do exactly what I do, you hear?" Maddie looked up to him for a response and he nodded. "Do you hear?!?"

"Yes." She relaxed and told him to put his hands up, she did the same. The door opened and armed gun men entered. Tony immediately recognized their guns as his own weapons.

"Those are my guns, how did they get my guns?"

"Did you not hear me? I said do as I do."

A leader entered with a smile and gave a nod. He spoke to them in his language. A language Maddie actually knew.

He gave gestures and showed a lot of emotion in his ways of speaking. And when he finished, he told Maddie to translate.

"He says welcome Tony Stark. The most famous mass murderer in the history of America," Maddie said. "He is honored."

The man spoke again and Maddie nodded understandingly.

"He wants you to build a missile. The Jericho missile that you demonstrated." A paper was pressed against Maddie's body. She was a bit taken back but her hands trailed down to it.

She handed it to Tony. He took it from her and studied it. This was definitely his weapon.

"This one," she said. She waited for him to respond, though she already knew his answer.

"I refuse."
