United States of the Oppressed.

Another innocent death today
The vivid reds and blues of the news
Flash on my television
Last night- Alton Sterling
This morning- Philando Castile
Last month- 50 at Pulse in Orlando
This month- who the hell knows
Everyday someone innocent is killed
Alton Sterling- just a man trying
Trying to make a living
Philando Castile- A Father
Father to a 4 year old little girl
This young girl will never get to say
"I love you daddy"
Unless its in her prayers
I fear now,
Will I be like her one day?
My daddy is black
Just like hers
My daddy legally owns a gun
Just like hers
What is the difference between her father and mine?
What keeps my daddy safe?
If bad cops are the killers who keeps him safe?
No one
I'm afraid for my father to leave the house...
Will a cop leave 3 daughters and a newborn son without their father?
Why not?
Whats stopping them?
Nothing
Bad cops get the authority
Upon their chest they wear
A badge- an entitlement to bigotry and racism
So now I fear,
I fear my father will die
My mother,
Left without a husband
My sisters and I,
No one to walk us down the isle
My baby brother named after our father,
No man to look up to
I fear,
For The "United" States of America
Land of the Doomed
And home to the entitled
